Great looking wood and wharn RSplitter, congrats. How's the snap on those babies? Looks fabulous anyway. Good show.

Ivoryman, the snap is very good and there's a striker pin in the blade well to prevent blade rap. Note that the kick is parallel with the edge because it is not used to stop the blade. The striker pin handles that task. Half stop with great walk and talk. Blade pull is about a 7 on a scale of 1-10.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

While I'm here, does anyone know what the tang stamp on this "Deer Head" knife means? I know what the "JAPAN" tang stamp means. The pictures of the tang stamps are below. If you can't read the first tang stamp, it's SFB (over) 4 3
I have seen that stamp before on some listings of various Japanese made knifes, and postings usually said they were made by Seki Japan. From research I've done, Seki is a conglomerate of several Japanese Knifemakers. A lot of the tang stamps with SFB have been from knives made in the late 60's early 70's. Unfortunately I've never been able to find a list anywhere of the tang stamp codes for Japanese Manufactures .

epragueknives.com use to carry older Seki Knifes. I found this listing from a while back.
seki folder.PNG

There is also a website that carries a lot of Seki products, you possibly could be able to send them an email with photo's and info on your knife and maybe they could help in what the "SFB" signifies. https://japaneseknifedirect.com/contact.html

This is also an interesting site with many links to others. https://orientalsouls.com/blog/japanese ... ters-make/

I think I would try to contact Japanese Knife Direct email and see if they could hook you up with anyone.

I did send an email to the Kencrest Corporation regarding the tang stamp (pictured below) on this knife. Here is the response I received.

Hi Skip,
If my memory is correct, this knife was being made by Toyoichi in Seki about
40 years ago. Seki has produced many O.E.M. brand knives, and the SFB 43
will be the customer's name. It is not a quality knife with fake stag
handle.

This morning, my trip to the post office produced these two knives. Both are Keen Kutter K30, 3 blade, "whittler" pocket knives. I didn't clean either one. I took some pictures and here they are.

My trip to the post office yesterday, and the 4 inch Kutmaster arrived. Actually I measure it and it mics to 3-11/16. I'm very pleased with it. The scales look great, The master blade and sheepsfoot have awesome snap. The spey blade has good snap but is a little softer than the others. There is some tiny pitting around the thumbnail pull on the master blade but other than that the knife looks great to my old eyes. Will go with my other Kutmasters and in a EDC rotation from time to time.

Today I received my Case 07 Tiny Trapper......Correction Mini Trapper in the Crimson Peach Seed Bone. Very pleased with the color. The deep red crimson colors look awesome. Hopefully my better-half doesn't mind me using her succulents for a photo op. ::super_happy:: I know nothing about these types of plants. Think it's called a Crow and Buzzard or some kind of birds

And then there are those sellers on eBay who insist on calling a Tiny Trapper (154) a Mini-Trapper. ::facepalm:: Maybe that's because the Mini-Trapper's are such a popular pattern and the Tiny Trapper's, not so much.
