It is a great way to commemorate a special day in the woods. Personally I got in the habit of making a notch on the 2X4 door jamb of my stand here at the house. Nobody appreciates it but me but I like it. :) When I was young it was not uncommon to see initials carved in random places in the woods. Trees of course but also on bridge timbers, picnic table and such. Must not be politically correct any more. ::mdm::
Here's one of my stands marked commemorating Bambi and his departed brothers:005.JPG

Wobblehead wrote: Sun Jun 07, 2020 1:41 am Every time I kill a deer or turkey I carve my initials in a beech tree. So does my brother. One tree in particular is carved multiple times with kills from my 5 biggest bucks but I can’t find the picture of it.
That's a cool tradition & a good way to find or refind a good hunting spot! ::tu:: :D

Ken,
Steve pretty much nailed it. Waldo lake is about 70 miles east of Eugene going up highway 58.
This one is from the coast, about the same distance the other way.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice!
My wife and I have seen and love the North East Coast, especially along Maine.
Would like to get out and see the Pacific North West Coast one of these days.
Take care and God bless,

Sarge, just be on the lookout for Sasquatch while you're there.

Heard that they are common in that part of the country ::tu::

I like all these recent posts. Great idea and nice picture Bighomer, got some round bales beyond my backyard at the moment.

Roseandthistle, as usual, nice series of beautiful pics.

Steve,
I lived in Virginia for a while and explored much of the coast but never made it up to Maine. Really want to see it some day.

I think Maine is a very special place, particularly that entire lengthy coastline.
