Madmarco wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2020 9:27 pm Hey guys! I just posted pics on the "Switchblade" forum of this piece that I just got this morning, because I wanted some of the folks there to see it, but it was suggested to me to post new stuff on "Mail Call", so here it is again. It's not particularly new or special, but kindda cool! It's the CRKT "Psych". It's an 8 3/4" open "Glide-Lock" model, not to be mistaken for their "Rolox" model, since the 2 are quite different. The knife has a SS dagger blade with blood groove and jimping on the top false edge, SS bolsters liners and screws, jet-black G-10 scales, and pocket-clip, although I immediately removed it since I've never been a fan of pocket-clips. Has the "CRKT" logo etched on the front tang, as well as "PSYCH" and "Steigerwalt Design" along with the patent # etched on the rear tang. CRKT discontinued this model due to, in their own words, "it doesn't meet our stringent quality control standards", so who knows, it might be valuable someday. I will explain the opening/closing process below each pic! Mark! 8)WIN_20200612_14_21_31_Pro.jpg This is the fully closed position.WIN_20200612_14_22_11_Pro.jpg I have depressed the lock button between the 2 screws and slid the bolster upWIN_20200612_14_22_33_Pro.jpg I have pulled on the edge of the bolster, much like one would do with a "flipper" on an assisted knife.WIN_20200612_14_22_45_Pro.jpg This pic just shows the progression of the opening processWIN_20200612_14_23_10_Pro.jpg This is in the fully open position, but, the bolster has yet to be pulled down to complete the lock-up.WIN_20200612_14_23_56_Pro.jpg And finally, the knife fully open and locked. To close you simply reverse the steps! Pretty cool huh!
Truly Unique Madmarco. Very cool. ::tu::

This morning, I retrieved this knife from the post office. It is a, 1915-1920, A. KASTOR & BROS - NEW YORK, bone handles, single blade, 1 tool, Coca Cola pocket knife with bottle opener/cap lifter. Goins says it's a wire cutter. It has two tang stamps. A KASTOR (over) & BROS (over) NEW YORK and on the other side, COCA COLA (over) BOTTLING CO. The graphics are still very legible. I just wiped off the handles, took some pictures and here it is.

Busy week with the pick ups, but these were all cheap. The Klein I found locally. In horrible shape. This is even after I've been cleaning it up and still have a way to go. I'll regrind the broken blade into something useful. Someone's already tried, but I think I can do better with it.

I got tired of missing out on authentic GI knives on ebay, they go for more than I'm willing to pay now, so I broke down and just got a new Marbles.
The fly fisherman is also Marbles. I got it just because it's cheap and odd. Plus my wife will eventually get to give me an "I told you so" when I jab myself with the jighead cleaner. She always appreciates that.

NWN, A very interesting old knife. An excellent acquisition. If I ran the Coca-Cola museum at coca-cola headquarters I would love to have that knife.

I'm really hoping this isn't a re-post because I've shown this knife to a few people and can't remember if one of them was here. If it is, please delete it. ::facepalm:: This is a Curel 12 1/2" (including bail) reverse-fulcrum slip-joint folder. I say "reverse" because, with this system you pull the lever up to release the blade, and any others I've seen you push down. If this is incorrect and anyone knows the correct terminology, I'd welcome hearing it! The knife has a SS drop-point blade/nail-nic, SS lever and liners, brass bolsters bail and pins, and truly gorgeous Elk horn scales. Has "Curel" and "Inox Portugal" stamped on the front tang, as well as An Elk's head, split-hoof footprints, and "Made in Portugal" etched on the front blade. Weighs-in at about 9 oz.'s. The copy I received is somewhat different than what was shown in the pictures, in that, the cut-outs on the scales are staggered, and in the pics they are even. I understand why they did this, and it was due to, if the cut-outs were even, the area to grip the handle is way too small, and you'd never get a solid hold on the knife, whereas with my knife the grip fits your hand like a glove. I am retired and not nearly as active as I use to be, but if I was to still go into the wild to fish or just camp, I'd definitely want this knife with me, but as it is, it simply graces my display. It's solid as the day is long, and would easily cut rope or chop kindling, as well as many other uses! Mark! 8)

Reading the "Mail Call" is almost as good as lookin' for what Scott posts in "Knife finds of the day"!
A few weeks back WillyCamaro and I made a trade. His part arrived today, I was pleased with the trade. A lot of my acquisitions the last few years have been in twos, two grandsons interested in pocket knives, y'all understand why, I'm sure. Well there is a 3rd grandson who isn't quite old enough to appreciate a pocket knife yet so I've been planning ahead when he gets a few more years under his belt, I'll help him get started on the bad habit of knife collecting. And then too, there are always other youngsters who with permission would love to have a knife, so this will help with the supply:

Thanks to several of you fellers in years past for helping with the grandson knives! ::handshake::

I haven't done two trips to the post office in one day, in a very long time. Today's afternoon trip produced these knives and one item. The first 2 pictures, it's a CAMILLUS, 3 blade, main blade etched, bee shield, "YELLO-JAKET stockman, pocket knife. It didn't need anything done to it. Pictures #3 & #4, it's an IMPERIAL, 1 blade, 2 tools, "HECHO EN MEXICO" pocket knife. It required no cleaning at all. Pictures #5 & #6 are of a 2 blade, "Deer Head" pocket knife. It has two tang stamps and it is from Japan. It did not need any cleaning. Pictures #7 & #8 are of an Imperial IRELAND, 3 blade, stockman pocket knife. This knife was part of a 3 knife lot that I bought to get the "Deer Head" knife from Japan. I cleaned it up and decided to keep it. Picture #9 is of the Frontier trapper pocket knife. It too was part of that 3 knife lot. It has a broken blade tip. It has two tang stamps and is from China. I decided I don't want this knife and will part with it. Picture #10 is of a 15 page Cutlery Catalog, from Abilene, Texas. It is from the 1955-1956 time span. It is in VERY GOOD condition. Here is everything.

Jeez Mark, if that was a 1 blade'r I'd have you putting it aside for me! Very nice! It looks to be 7" or more open, and the only ones I've seen are 6" or less. Great score buddy! Mark. 8)
