I think I heard you mention earlier that these were part of your friends collection. He certainly had some wonderful knives. And you have and eye and understanding of quality. Congrats.djknife13 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 11:27 pm Check this out. I hit an antique shop when they sort of opened and found a mess of knives. I'm a few thousand dollars short of getting all I wanted. I did pick up three Westerns, a Winchester English jack, two nice Remington's, a really nice Marshall Wells large hunter, a Danks and Leggett hawkbill that I can't find any info on, and a Palo Alto Cut. Co, Sheffield, England horseman's knife. The owner gave me a really sweet 20% off.____Dave

Thanks Scott. That's the Remington, lightly used and cost me a whopping $20. The Remington Hawkbill was only $18. Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
I hit the antique shop that has a bunch of my friend's knives again to go through a large box heavy with knives that I didn't have time to dig through last week and quickly picked out these. I'll clean them up and label them better when I get time. Some of the names (all 15 knives are good old brands) are IXL, Wilbert (English Jack), GriffinXX, Fletcher Knife, Northfield, Levering and Excelsior among others. They averaged $15 per knife.____Dave

Yeah, I wish a few of you guys could come up here and take away this temptation for me to bankrupt myself. There are a lot(hundreds) of nice knives still sitting in display cases around the shop for awfully good prices. It's killing me to not go and rescue them.____Dave

If I could travel I'd be there.
About how many hundreds do you think there are?

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Ray, they have them in about 5 or six tall display cases, most displayed in open Knife Pacs that hold 50 knives or so and also a box full of $5 to $40 knives that is very heavy to pick up. There is probably about a thousand knives left figuring there are probably 8 to 10 knife pacs total. Estimating the amount of knives in the box is like guessing how many jelly beans are in a jar like businesses do sometimes for contests. I'm guessing there are about 20 to a layer and the knives are piled 8 inches high and my head starts to spin and won't give me a number. I asked the owner what he wanted for the box full and he just kind of blew me off so I think he's liking having the inventory just heading into tourist season after the forced shut down. A few in one case were priced too high by my figuring. The owner has done a little research but soon figured he was over his head with the amount of inventory he was pricing.___Dave

Here's two I picked up at the flea yestiddy ...
A Queen that I picked just because it's bone Winterbottom.
No markings besides 'Q steel'. Decent snap, walk and talk. 3.5 inches closed.
And a six dot (1974) Case 62055. Tight and snappy. Cleaned but not to excess.
Full blades and no cracks in the bone. Fairly mint, IMHO ...
Plumb Pickled Tink to have them both ....

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
While going to visit some relatives yesterday, I found an Indoor Farmers Market / Trade Day / Flea Market!! Saw a few tables set up with knives and a couple of Knife Dealers with cubicle style stores. I found this and had to have it. A Case 1979 62032 Texas (or Premium) Jack with the original box and paper. Love the bone on this one.
