Folks had me order some stuff from the Home Depot. I chose a few other things as well.

Milwaukee 4" Tradesman Fixed Blade Knife. I typically no longer buy ANY knife made in China, but it seemed like a good one to beat the crap out of; and for toolbox use being full tang, and with a nice blade shape. Steel is supposedly soft and cheap, but probabl tough. A carpenter and part-owner of a small building supply company is coming next week to do some work on the garage apartment/outbuilding; and he and the guy who typically helps him are rough on their own knives, so I always carry nothing better than a store-brand MT (Kobalt/Lowe's); Rough Rider folder, and Mora fixed blade. In other words, inexpensive stuff I can readily replace without having to save up for months, and not be ticked off that badly if totally wrecked; but good enough to where I don't mind using it myself.

Norton Abrasives stone. $6, but fairly coarse. It was suggested with the knife, but I knew this was the Jet Pilot's Survival Knife sharpening stone, and with vintage examples, that's often broken/missing/dissolved. There isn't such thing as owning too many sharpening stones, especially this type that only needs a few drops of water; which work better in the field but are cheaper than diamond.

All that cheap stuff for work beaters; but this is the piece de resistance of my recent buying.

Victorinox "Old Cross" Electrician. I know for some of you, $60 won't put a dent in the most expensive knife you've bought. This is my 2nd or 3rd most expensive. I like the appearance of the older handle design than the newer ones.

I bought this knife yesterday. It's an Imperial "HECHO EN MEXICO," single blade, 2 tools pocket knife with bail. It looks like it's in pretty decent condition. Another example of the Imperial and Colonial connection to Mexico. When I receive it, I'll check it out. Pictures will be taken and posted in the appropriate location(s).

I bought this 3 knife lot to get the knife on the right (less than $17 total). I'll probably keep the Imperial Ireland. I'll just clean the blades a bit. The Frontier, I haven't decided yet. The 2 blade, "Deer Head" is said to be of Japanese origin. It looks like it's in pretty good shape. It will be welcomed in the zoo. When the knives arrive, I'll check each one out and do what's necessary. Pictures will be taken and posted in the appropriate location(s).

Nice trio. A nice looking addition for the zoo, and that Imperial looks like it would clean up pretty good.

I read somewhere online that the Frontier series were a pretty well made series. ::tu:: Been on the lookout for one of those ever since I read that. Just thought I'd mention it. Congrats my friend! :handshake:

Interesting and very nice. I've seen some of the A. Bush knives before and the colors always make me think of a late 1800's Merry-Go-Round. I don't really know why ::shrug::

Beating my brains out trying to figure out what to get my Granddad for Father's Day; I finally made up my mind; and happened to find a knife I wanted for a long time was on sale at Shepherd Hills Cutlery. I think the reason these two were discounted ($40 and $38 respectively) so heavily is that devoted traditional guys don't go for G-10 or serrations. While I'm a bone and stag guy for collection knives; G-10 and serrations are a great combo for a working knife. And I already own the Carhartt Mini Trapper with this handle type, and it grips great, even when my hands are wet, oily, or greasy. Though, I am sure Granddad won't use his.

I've always wanted to try the 75 pattern Stockman, as it's such a big and heavy-duty pattern. The version I liked the best was the Earth Brown G-10 version with the serrated large blade. That was the perfect work knife, since for the most part, all the big blade got used for was cutting rope and brush. The reason the Schrade 89OT and I didn't get along well was that they serrated the coping blade--AKA the one I actually use for most stuff. Recently found Shepherd Hills had it on sale for $40 (thus being even cheaper than the CV version in Yellow Synthetic, typically the cheapest) and got one. This will be replacing a Rough Rider Large Stockman (basically the same size and pattern); as I go 100% NOT MADE IN CHINA for my regular EDC knives.

This is Granddad's Father's Day present. Trapper in Earth Brown G-10, also with the main blade serrated. Serrated blades are great for when you need heavy cutting. I am eventually getting one myself when funds allow.
