case clean up

hey all i was wondering if anyone had any good sugestions on cleaning up an old case knife that is in an ok condition but begining to rust and very dificult to open

The old standby answer to this question is to soak it down good with WD-40, be sure to spray the pivots out good. WD is a pretty good cleaner, but not the best lubricant. After you've cleaned it up good, use a high quality lube on the joints. I use a lube with teflon in it. As for the rust you have to be careful about how aggressive you are with cleaning it if you are concerned about its value as a collectible. If its light rust the WD40 & a soft cloth may take care of it. Good luck.
