Had a really good mail call last Friday. Took a while to post up pics because I couldn't find the stupid camera to laptop cable. 2 Westerns, 5 Kabars (6 if you split the twin set), a Kabar Buckle, and a pair of hard to get bayonets. This is what happens when you don't go to the post office for 13 days during the Covid "shelter in place".
Left stack ------------------------------Right Stack
Pre-WW2 G46-5 ---------------- Guard stamped W36 1973 - 1976
Kabar B&T mid 50s 2-7/8" blade ------- Kabar 1232 Taiwan version
Kabar Twin B&T Set ------------------- Kabar 5-1/8" BL 9-1/2" OAL Full Guard
Buck 110 3 line 1972 - 1974 ---------- Kabar Brass Buckle 1970s???
Argentinian M1909 Bayonet ----------- M1941 Johnson Bayonet

I've had one of those for years. Tang stamp was ground off. Never knew where it was from. Now I know it's from Argentina. Thanks for that.

This is a rare one - it still has the Argentine crest on it AND the serial numbers for the bayonet and the scabbard match. The M1909 was made all he way up to the 1950s as the Mauser rifles they were designed for were still in service.jerryd6818 wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 3:13 amI've had one of those for years. In the late 1950s Argentina started purchasing and then making the Belgian FN-FAL rifle, using the Type A FN-FAL bayonet for them.
In the 1960s, the US sold a small pile (12K+) of M1s to Argentina. The Argentine army used M1 bayonets, modified M1891 and M1909 for the M1s.
The M1891 came in 2 flavors - an aluminum alloy handle version for the Army and a brass handle version for the Navy and Police Service.
Most Argentine bayonets had the crest ground off when taken out of service. Sometimes the crest is just kinda scored off and sometime the crest, the arc of words over the crest and the serial number are all removed almost entirely. I guess it depended on who was grinding that day.

Skip, does that blade lock? Wondering how you could use the fish scaler side safely if it doesn’t?
Nice knife, looks to be in great condition.

I just retrieved my latest acquisition for the zoo from the post office. It's a 2 blade, "longhorn steer head" pocket knife. It is an Imperial. Only the blades needed some cleaning. I cleaned them, took some pictures and here it is.

A few days ago I was going over my knife inventory and it suddenly occurred to me
that I didn't have very many Swiss Army type knives. So I believe that is where I
will concentrate my efforts for awhile. Here are two that the Post Rider brought
me today.
The red composite handle "Gardener" knife. Also called a "Floral" knife.
The red "Recruit" multi-tool knife.

They are fine knives, David and I would like to suggest you try at least one of the Alox variations. I find the Alox and the yellow versions very aesthetically pleasing.

Today's trip to the post office produced these two knives. The first is an EDGECO CUMOSA, single blade, pocket knife. My second EDGECO, my third Cumosa. The second is a PASTOR ALEMAN (German Shepherd), 2 blade, 1 tool pocket knife. The EDGECO didn't need any cleaning. The PASTOR ALEMAN just needed a very light cleaning. I took some pictures and here they are.
