Very nice Ike If I remember right Clay was a cousin of A J Jordan from St Louis made in 1910-1920. I could be wrong about that because I’m not home right now with my books. Love the bone though!!

I knew little of A J Jordan or Clay and didn't own any until this one. The esteemed Longblade had a nice writeup on A J Jordan in Knife Lore not long ago.

Seems to me, Clay had an interesting backstory.

I think it was named after its founder's deceased son.

There are some older knife books, possibly LG-IV that suggested Clay knives were made by Robeson, so I had a representative sample or two. Later, an article was published in KnifeWorld Magazine that Clay had their own factory.

I sold my Clay knives.

Picked up this very nice Jordan St Louis grand daddy Barlow, most likely AJ Jordan, AJ Jordan imported knives from Sheffield and this one has the hammered pins typical of Sheffield knives. Most likely been cleaned as the well is quite a bit dirtier than the rest of knife.

Levering A1 Knife Co, New York, little is known about them, thought to be 1890 to 1930. Very well made knife, was comparing it to other knives in my collection and looks like it could be made by Challenge.

Found this one at the fleamarket today.
E. WILD & SONS (Ebenezer Wild) , 2 1/8" long Wharncliffe Congress pen with horn handles, dates to the 1850's.
