I picked this off Ebay, and it came in the mail today. I have seen the various knives and utensils, but not complete with the pouch. They usually have substitutions or the spoon is missing.

Geo Schrade with Boy Scout Pouch. The Knife and Fork are both 1942, and the Spoon is marked ALLEGHENNY STAINLESS STEEL with a "WB" over W. Both the knife and the fork have great snap and have a half stop.

Thanks Ken. These are both bone and are as nice an example as I have ever seen. All I'm missing are the correct boxes.

I recently picked up a "Parts or Repair" lot of two knives for $10 shipped ($5 by itself) because it was inexpensive and that was it. The other (a York Solingen EO Jack) I'm still working on. Parts or repair would describe it quite generously. The other was a Schrade USA 33OT Middleman. When I started to clean it, I noticed the clip blade would not snap shut, and both blades didn't snap too well. After a heavy scrubbing, and lots of opening and closing the blades in the soapy water, the snap is now what I expect out of a Schrade--nice and snappy. Oiled the blades and pivots really well, and touched up the edge. I put it in my pocket right away. From an EDC perspective, it's in really good condition; as the edge was still halfway decent even, and there was absolutely no rust (but a moderate amount of pocket lint). I think the bolsters need a good polish--they've got a yellowish patina to them. Definitely not even close to "Parts or Repair". Tomorrow, it's gonna pay for itself. I have got a lot of work to get done.

My later 935s came in these hinged boxes.
My 8OT came in a 1962- 63 white hinged box, should be a wooden box. [with small nails] - Ken.

I have been meaning to get an actual bone USA Old Timer myself, just haven't got around to it quite yet.

I have bought two bone 8OTs and both times it was just dumb luck. I spotted them on ebay and the listings were poorly worded and they just flew under the radar. The first one was rough and the pics were low quality. The second one was mint but also had low quality pics, no close ups and the seller just didn't know what words to use in the ad.

I have seen the Primble box - just don't have one. The 8OT box I have that is closest is from 1962 and it's wood-grain cardboard. I didn't realize the 8OT started in a wood box. Something else to hunt for...

The first 8 OT [1960] had the oval shield. Some others also had gimping on the bottom brass liners.
All of the Bone 8 OTs, came in a wooden hinged box - almost the same box as the "Anniversary Sterling Silver 34 OT"
The first of the non-bone 8 OTs [1962] came in the Light Gray hinged box. [not wood]
I do not know when the Brown Hinged Box was used, maybe mid to late 1960's .[ I have only one of them ]

My 8 OT shown in this post, came in the [wrong] 1962 Light Gray hinged box.
I have only one 8 OT in the pre-1970 Brown Hinged Box - Most of my Walden 8 OTs came in Two-piece Brown Boxes.
Some of my Walden and Schrade N.Y. knives, with the match-strike pull came in Tubes.

Old age and collecting knives, must be effecting my eyes.
The fake wooden box, is more a Light Gray Color. It is a man-made copy of the earlier wooden box.
"THE OLD - TIMER" is printed on the top lid.

I found a 6OT Cave Bear for $16 shipped. I could tell it had never been used, but stored really poorly. I was surprised to find the warranty card/manual inside the sheath; and it is dated 2002. Thus, this is close to an End of Days knife

This was the before. I took my own photo, but it turned out badly. These industrial phones are really finicky with the lighting and turning the flash off messes everything up even worse; washing it all out. This was the seller photo.

After over half an hour of scrubbing it with a Brillo pad and Cameo silverware polish; then about ten minutes of a microfiber cloth and some toothpaste which felt really gritty (whitening toothpaste has silica in it, which makes it great as a polish; and besides, I hated the flavoring of this variety) enough to work to remove scratches left by the Brillo pad. This knife was so badly tarnished and corroded, light-duty wasn't gonna cut it!


Note the pitting left. These bolsters weren't just tarnished--they were corroded. Makes me what would wonder what would cause it. Knife came from Vermont, so I'm almost rulijng out exposure to saltwater. Could it have been stored in close proximity to an outgassing celluloid-scaled knife

Due to the pitting, I think I will carry this knife some. While I hate nylon, and typically go for leather or Kydex, this is quite a sturdy nylon sheath. Though, I will use a generic leather sheath that fits my Tough Tool and most large lockbacks in general. I am putting this one away. It's the original sheath, and never been used. I think the metallic thread is cool.

The green gunk on there, as well as the pitting is from the knife being stored long term in the sheath. The dye from the sheath reacts with the knife finish and causes that.

Good to know. I've seen the green stuff, but never pitting from long-term storage. I always store my knives separate from their sheaths (in fact, as I speak, the 6-OT is in a case, while its sheath is stuck in the outside pocket of said case.
