Knife info
Can someone give some information on this knife? The only stamps I see is sterling and some insignia symbols on the main blade and 471 on the back of the main blade. Age? Value? Thanks

Re: Knife info
A silver fruit knife with nut pick. The silver blade isn't tarnished by the fruit. A popular gift for your lady friend way back when a gift of fruit was popular (before packaged candies). I think the marks are called hallmarks and denote age and silver content.
I'm not into them, so maybe somebody will come along that really knows what they are talking about. I'm just rambling from a poor memory.

Ken,
Thanks for that link to the 'other' fruit knife thread.
I just spent an hour in there and was rewarded with visuals of beautiful fruit knives. I learned a lot from the well educated collectors of that thread. I never knew these even existed...but I'm a smarter man now due to the knowledge of others.

Glad you enjoyed it. The “Search” capability here can usually find some great reading on just about anything knife-related. The problem I have with it is that I’ll do a search for something, and in the process of looking through those posts find something else interesting. An hour later I remember what I started looking for in the first place!
But I usually learned a lot in the process.
