We lost a Hero last night
Earth lost a Hero last night. Ed Silva died of cancer, the effects of agent orange. Ed began his military career as a gunners mate during the Korean war. Was injured on the ship and decided to become a medic. Served as a combat medic for the entire time of the Viet Nam war. With pride ( and humor) he told me that several times he would be called to some location in the Mekong delta to assist one of the boats there that took casualties, be shot at, get back aboard one of the Sea Wolf helicopters, be shot at, and go to some land base that had casualties, treat the wounded there and be shot at again. Was decorated several times. It occurred to me that because of this one humble man there are men, children and grandchildren walking around the US today because of his courage under fire. I will miss him but would not want to keep him here in his condition. Pray for his wife Kay, also a career Navy nurse who served in Viet Nam as well. I'm glad he knew the Lord and is now with Him.

Father, we thank You there are men and women who are like Ed, selfless and so willing to put others first. I pray for the comfort of Your peace to be upon his wife Kay, family, friends and all who knew Ed. All for Your glory, in Jesus's name. Amen.
Take care and God bless,

It’s a lot easier to let them go when you know who they will spend eternity with. We will miss them but rejoice in their home coming. PTL May his family find solace and peace at this time . According to the Word those who know the Lord will be reunited with those who go before us. Praise His Name.

Re: We lost a Hero last night
By now Ed has stood tall for final personnel inspection, and received his final orders;
"Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord."
I would say "rest well Doc," but I know it is only from our perspective that he is resting.
Now he is more alive than he ever was on this earth!
I Corinthians 13:12 "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
It seems to me we mostly stumble through this life as though we are in a fog, not clearly seeing Gods hand at work around us. Some may see more, and some see less but when the mists are rolled away (when we leave this life) we will see things never imagined by man. We shall see face to face.
I Corinthians 2:9-10 "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God."
Thank you, Ed and to all your fellow Corpsman and Medics who sewed us back together, patched us all up and kept us alive.
I know too many of you paid the ultimate price.
Enjoy eternal life Doc. Many more of us will be reporting in shortly.
See you then!
