Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Awesome knife Hak1911, very practical and visually appealing. I have several knives that seem to fit those same qualities; like my wartime Camillus TL-29s. But I recently acquired a Schade that is practical, visually appealing, and mechanically interesting...
It doesn’t have a linerlock like my Camillus do. The screwdriver blade rotates open till it locks in place because of an engagement between the backspring and a cut out on the back of the blade. There is a crossbar that runs from the same backspring, going underneath the center liner and hovers over the mainblade’s backspring. When the closed mainblade is pressed down it pushes on the crossbar and unlocks the screwdriver. I wish modern makers would incorporate this function. It may not be as secure as a linerlock, but it is much more interesting to me.

Very interesting concept for a blade lock..... I sort of wonder if there would be very many that would be smart enough to operate it nowadays.... LOL.
Thanks for showing!!

I picked up pretty nice little wavy bone schrade walden 808 jr stockman. These jr stocks are hard to find in bone. I like it.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Thanks Mike.
This one does not look like anything special, but it is actually a pretty scarce schrade pattern that most people don’t seem to know about.
Schrade walden 110 jr barlow at 2 3/4”. It does not seem to have been used but has been knocking around for years. Handles are white composition. There is no catalog image for it but there is one for the two blade version, pattern 210. The description is a bit off though, it describes the white single blade but shows the image and pattern number for a black handle two blade. These could have black or white handles with either blade combo. This exact model is in the price lists in the 1953 catalog as the 110W.

That’s a winner!
I wasn’t aware of such a Schrade, wonder if I have overlooked one by thinking it was just little cheap knife?

My good friend Rich Healey had several variations of those little barlows. And an astounding collection of other Schrades, including Hermans. He was so happy, just turned 65 and retired and was coming out West from Boston to see the mountains. And he dropped dead. No one knows what happened to his collection. RIP, Rich.

Just retired.... dang..... I'm right there in my life. I hope to retire next year.
BUT, I guess if the Lord calls me home, I will go.
Sorry for your loss Cal.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Great little mini-barlow, Paul!
I have been spending a little more time with my collection in this "down-time". Seems like up until now I would get a knife, and then set it in the pile and move on to the next conquest. Lately though, I've been appreciating more the ones I already have. What prompted me to do this was I was rehabbing some wood tool chests for knife storage. I finished one, so I decided to put my Imperials and Schrade OT/Delrin open stocks in. I found a bunch of knives in my rolls that I had forgotten about. I'll post pics somewhere else, they don't belong in this thread.
The mention of Rich Healey is further reminder to enjoy what we have RIGHT NOW, as it may be gone tomorrow.

I am sorry to hear about your friend Rich, Cal. RIP.
Thanks to all the comments on my mini barlow. I am very pleased with the acquisition.
Nice 881 hak! That’s some pretty looking red tinted peachseed bone.

I am always on the lookout for any good examples of the many variants of schrade cut co jr cattle patterns.
I found this 8584 3/4 and I am very happy with it. It’s in nice used but not abused condition and is rock solid and snappy. I love the golden pearl cell handles, it’s such a great color. You can bet I will tote it around after a sharpening.
