Nice showing Michael
...
The Waterville knife caught my attention - I think I have the same knife including shield and engraved aluminum bolsters (see below) but can't tell which blades are in your knife...

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
I don't have a lot of pearl but I do have this knife that sees regular use. This unknown-maker pipe tool and knife from Sheffield has the initials JHC and the date April 7th, 1947 inscribed into the shield. I have no idea who JHC is or why April 7th, 1947 is significant, but I am using this knife for the reasons it was created in the first place nearly 73 years later.

Very nice old whittler, Dan!
Great selection of pearls, Michael!
Especially the A.Field.
Cool to use a lovely old knife for it's intended purpose, Tsar Bomba!

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
Sorry Lee, I seem to have missed your last post in my previous comment. Beautiful pearly Waterville. I like the curvy shield. The blades are in the configuration of a whittler. Does the master blade ride on the two springs? If so, very unique to have a whittler blade configuration with one of the blades being scissors!
Nice additions, Michael, especially the last two with the fancy bolsters and the worked pearl (scratted?).
Two nice Kissing Kranes, Willy!

Jewelry is a most appropriate adjective to describe the knives posted in this thread. Some fantastic knives shown since I've been here last...
Here's a recent acquisition I made from a local antique shop. Schrade Cut. Co. Sunfish Lobster Pattern №8656T which appears to be unused or carried especially for its age...

Dan... I like your new avatar.

Dan, that's a mighty perty lobster you got there, and one of the better ones I've seen in my journeys
.
Yes Dan, I think they're nice too
. By the way Dan, you weathering the whole panic well I hope? Maybe after the whole lockdown is over, we could meet up and share notes (and knives
).

Great knife, I don't know what happened on April 7th, but two months and a couple days later I was born.____DaveTsar Bomba wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 5:10 pm I don't have a lot of pearl but I do have this knife that sees regular use. The pearl smoker's knife was created to commemorate my one month and eighteen days on earth.
Send it back.

Thanks Ken. Beautiful pearl on both of those!
Willy, most of my travels these days take me west, however, you are only about 3 hours east of me, so someday.

Thanks to everyone who's posted. As a Schrade collecting fan of MOP that 8656T strikes me as outstanding. Hard to find in that condition!KAW wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 12:10 am Jewelry is a most appropriate adjective to describe the knives posted in this thread. Here are 6 Schrade Cut Co 2-1/4" MOP lobsters with a sterling friend. Mirror polished blades, polished inside. All but one of the pearl knives have milled nickel silver liners. All are at least 75 years old. One might be over a 100 years old. More detailed info regarding the pattern here: viewtopic.php?f=64&t=67234
I don't always respond to great posts but I always appreciate seeing them. Thanks for posting!
