Mississippi tornado destruction

I was too busy watching yesterday while it was going on to know about much past my general area. After the threat left our area, I went to bed.... thankful we had no damage. Thank You Heavenly Father!

After getting to work this morning, I learned that a small town / community in south Mississippi named Bassfield was TOTALLY destroyed yesterday. I was told there were winds as high as 200 MPH went through that area..... too awesome for me to imagine.
There has been fatalities there and in other areas of Mississippi. From what I can find.... they don't know how many were killed in Bassfield yet because they are just now getting in and starting the search through the rubble.
I saw a video made yesterday that is on youtube. The destruction was too awesome to even describe. Totally destroyed is about all you can say.
Let's pray for the emergency workers and for the survivors in this area and other areas of Mississippi. There were several chicken farms in that area and from what I have heard from first hand survivors I know in that area..... many chicken houses are GONE. A good friend told me his sister and her husband drove up in their driveway just as it hit. They watched their chicken houses and their home being torn apart before their eyes.... THAT is terrible.
So, if people got out alive.... their houses could be gone and their livelihood also GONE.

Heavenly Father... we thank You for the protection You provided for us who made it through those storms yesterday.
But.... there we some who lost their homes and some even lost their lives. Please pour out your comfort on these survivors who now will have to try to rebuild their homes.
Please show them Your Mercy and Your Love.
Thank you for all the blessing and grace we receive daily.

I can believe that!
Mississippi has to be the worst state for tornadoes. I used to think Oklahoma and areas in the mid west were bad..... but here, we have so many trees that a tornado can do damage to a house just with flying debris.

Get this..... A letter showed up in a neighbors yard from down in the Collins area..... that is over 100 miles away in a straight line.
Those folks got HAMMERED!!
That was way ahead of what happened locally.

I saw on the news that Monroe Louisiana got hit real hard too. I'll be keeping all y'all in my prayers!

South central Mississippi got hammered with some damage like I have never seen before. It really looks bad this morning. I am sure the death toll will climb today.

My mother lived through the 1936 Gainesville tornado.
She still remembers it vividly. She'll be 93 this August.

..when the tornado hit tupelo in 1936, my family lived in a real sturdy house, it was completely blown away,killed my great grandmother and blew away everything except the stone fireplace. 3 days later a man who lived in south tupelo called my grandpa and told him they had my grandmother's treadle singer sewing machine still in it's cabinet with legs and everything intact. it had been blown nearly a mile from the house and when they got it back, she sat down to it and started sewing the piece of fabric that was still in it!!!......... ...............

It’s difficult to comprehend what a powerful tornado can do unless you’ve seen it’s devastation first hand. I was in Joplin, MO a couple of weeks after the 2011 tornado there. The total and absolute destruction was shocking. My uncle’s sister-in-law was in an assisted living care center there when the tornado struck. They never found her.

We have family friends in Laurel, MS and we have not spoken to them yet. Praying for all those in the area.
