Nice Mini-T. What do make of the racks? I'm thinking white tails but I can't tell. You can put a magnifier on it. I can't. If it was for sale I'd be tempted. If it was for sale and it had only one Wharncliff blade QTCut5 might trade you his house for it.
That's only a slight exaggeration.

No, actually...that sounds about right. Fair warning, though...my wife has already warned me that if I should ever be stupid enough to trade our house for a knife (a possibility she seems inexplicably prepared to acknowledgeModern Slip Joints wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 12:57 am If it was for sale and it had only one Wharncliff blade QTCut5 might trade you his house for it.That's only a slight exaggeration.

Dusting off, or more accurately wire brushing rust off a memory from when I started collecting, Case etched or scrimshawed multiple deer hunting scenes on the bone of multiple knife patterns. One I remember was a deer hunter's tree stand with a farm house and fenced field in the back ground. That was on a Muskrat. It's likely that a member here has samples of all the deer hunter designs. I'd like to learn what they were. I doubt QCut5 would object to having that in his thread. After all, he might learn there was a Mini-T with a Wharncliff blade.

Re: Ode To The 07
The 07 in "genuine stag" finally arrived today. I'm very pleased with the mark side handle. Pile side? Typical Case over hafting. Overall I'm very pleased with my first Genuine Stag 07.

Re: Ode To The 07
Super stag snag, jerryd! In my experience most Case stag lacks character; it's rare to find a 5207 with really nice stag (especially on both sides). At least you got some decent stag with a bit of character on the presentation side.
I am somewhat surprised that this is your first stag 07...I thought you had a 5107W tucked away in your 07 pile, but maybe not--they are getting harder to find and increasingly expensive when you do manage to find one. Stag, especially the stag with nice character, always seems to command top dollar. Since Case apparently never released a factory made 5207W, I had to resort to asking glennbad to customize a couple of 6207Ws with stag handles for me...still waiting for the results, but I'm sure it will be spectacular. (I can't think of any way to change a tang stamp; so, hopefully, OCD Monkey will be able to deal with the incorrect pattern stamps on the modified knives.)

That's great looking mark side stag Jerry. The pile side is not half bad either. I more often wind up with knives with my preferred stag on the pile side. Those must be easier to win at auction.
Speaking about fancy Mini-Ts, a little mother of pearl would brighten up the day. Our member who had a hard time deciding whether he'd swap both his house and wife for the right Mini-T must have at least one with pearl squirreled away. Maybe an 8207W with nickle silver liners and pins?

Re: Ode To The 07
Outside of OCD Monkey's 07-obsessed imagination, I have never seen an 8207W. However, I have seen an 8507 (with no "W" in the pattern number) which, unlike the more common bone-handled 6507 five-blade Mini-T "Beast", has a Wharncliffe blade in the "wide load" frame (instead of a second clip blade).
If "fancy" is what you're looking for, I think this 107W customized with black lip pearl and red jasper fills the bill quite nicely. I know I've shown this one a few times previously, but since It's one of my all-time favorite Mini-Ts, it deserves another stroll down the catwalk.
We could all use a little day brightening in these dark and troubled times and I think I have just the ticket. Here's a white mother of pearl 8207 from the millennium set (s/n 155). Not the most fiery MOP I have seen, but it does have some cloudy depth in it.Modern Slip Joints wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 2:35 am Speaking about fancy Mini-Ts, a little mother of pearl would brighten up the day.

Re: Ode To The 07
That lower bolster looks like the handles came from a Carhartt but the pattern stamp on the blade doesn't support that..

Re: Ode To The 07
You are correct about the bolster looking like the Carhartt "lazy duck" bolster, jerryd. But it seems to me that the pattern stamp on the tang is also consistent with a Carhartt 107W.jerryd6818 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 7:38 pm That lower bolster looks like the handles came from a Carhartt but the pattern stamp on the blade doesn't support that..
I think the blade actually is a Carhartt blade consistent with the frame (note the shoulder grind which is more curved than the standard Case straight grind line). The only difference is the mirror polish. The original Carhartts have an "as ground" blade finish while my modified 107W has a mirror polish. The blade on my 107W looks to have been polished up by the mechanic who did the mod job.

I only have 3 Carhartts: the two 107Ws pictured above and a modified olive green bone 6207W. I know there is a black G-10 (with spey blade) model; but, I'm drawing a blank on any others. Care to refresh my memory?

Re: Ode To The 07
Here are a couple more "fancy" Mini-Ts for your viewing pleasure.
This Schatt & Morgan MOP #052 151 is downright dull even in comparison to the somewhat lackluster Case MOP 8207. But, I do like the pen blade instead of the spey...which, according to some traditionalists, makes it more of a dogleg jack than a mini trapper.
And I think this Case 107W modified by Michael Prater (Painted Pony) with Abalone and engraved bolsters is the fanciest Mini-T in my stable.

Ah...the Barn Board Carhartt...that's the one I couldn't remember. I really can't recall seeing too many of those for sale. It's also possible that I blindly passed over them due to my Wharncliffe tunnel vision.
Here's my Carhartt Olive Green Bone 6207W mod (a pre-Lansky1 Trapp2Cliffes attempt).
