Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

They’ve arranged to have the Ken Burns special Baseball available on streaming video for free! You can sit in your home and watch all or part and not have to get out, or wash your hands for several hours!

Not sure how long it will be available but currently you can access it here https://www.pbs.org/show/baseball/

Baseball was obviously a pretty wild game in the 1800’s!

He can't be a very knowledgable writer on the subject of baseball. The first World Series was played in 1903.

I just thought it was an interesting story. I don’t know anything about the author. At the bottom of the story it says he’s a writer for MLB.com. ::shrug::

Interesting article, I love baseball history.
The World Series as we know it, did in fact, originate in 1903. Prior to that, there were post season series played to determine a champion. These were called by various names, including World Series.

That’s a bummer! :x

But as a consolation prize, if you’re suffering you can watch a replay of one of your favorite team’s big games. https://www.mlb.com/news/opening-day-at-home For free! Check the link provided to see what games are being shown.

Rangers fans will be able to re-live the 2010 AL Championship Series win, which sent them to the World Series. Oh, I forgot, they beat the damnYankees! ::super_happy:: ::tu:: ::tu::

I watched that game again last night. That Rangers line-up was something! The sweetest part was watching the last out of the game, when A-Rod struck out! Still can’t stand him! ::huff::

I stated in an earlier post that I am a big fan of baseball history. Here is one of my favorite old photos, Spring Training with Gehrig at the end of his career and Joe D. In his 3rd season.

You are so right Ken.
My wife and I went there to see Ryne Sandberg inducted.
The HOF is amazing. Hope to go back someday.

No, I have not, but yes, iti is definitely on my list. Hope to do it in conjunction with a few other stops, like Bradford, Pa. Even tho I am not a Case collector, I also look at that as a "must do"

Pretty cool, David, that you saw Sandberg inducted. As one who has become just a general fan of all baseball, but was a big time Cardinal fan in the 60s on up......I can't think of Sandberg without remembering that 2 HR off Sutter game.
