Pine Knot Identification
I bought this Pine Knot on eBay. Unfortunately, there is a crater right in the middle of the birds head. I know there are a lot of fakes. I was hoping there was enough of the tang stamp left for someon to still be able to make a positive identification. My close up photos are a little grainy just to make things a even more difficult. If anyone can make a determination from the photos if this one is real or not I would be very appreciative.

Re: Pine Knot Identification
I would guess that the "crater" was put there because it is a fake.

It is not genuine.

The knife looks like an Imperial brand.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Re: Pine Knot Identification
Thanks to everyone for the responses and the old thread link. I did check it out. The quality of the knife is excellent and looks a lot like the Robesons' in my collection. Anyway that crater does make it very suspicious. Thanks again for all the responses and information.
