....just took the dog out in the back yard for a few minutes and a buzzard landed in one of our oak trees-I have never seen a buzzard that big-it must have been close to 6 foot wingspan!!..........

Checked in on the eagle family about 6:08.
Momma was just getting off the nest - still only one chick.
Looks like she had a fish off to the side and was feeding the little one.
Too cool!

While I was looking they went to wide angle and panned from left to right.
Nice to see the surrounding area and the river and the road just below.
The smelly vehicles just might provide some road kill.

It's a little chilly here to start thinking Spring.
It's going down to below freezing most nights, although I see a bit of a warm up in the future.

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
Ok, so I was actually changing out of my Sunday-Go-To-Meeting clothes. And it wasn't at my chamber door, but outside my upstairs office window.
Still, there was a tap, tap, rapping.

Shift change on the nest took place about 5:15 this afternoon.
Good shot of inside of the nest still showed only one chick hatched.

How many of you continue feeding during the summer? I have been doing so in past years primarily because I like to see the youngsters show up with their parents.
