Custom Knives in a traditional style.

While I much prefer old knives to new ones, a new knife of superior materials, in an old style holds powerful appeal. Like my "sick" friend Sauconian, I succumb to the lure of a custom knife from time to time.
I just received this one from Ken Erickson. It is his first knife in pre-ban Elephant Ivory, and the shield is parser-inletted. Made in ATS-34, it's beautifully fitted and finished, and came so sharp I am still astounded! 3 5/8" long, it's perfect for my pocket. Hunt one of his knives down if you can; it won't be long before they bring Bose prices!

She's a beauty. I actually worked with Ken on some methods to improve the consistency of the edges on his customs so I'm really pleased to read your comments regarding sharpness. (BTW, I have a two blade version in the works.)

Ken, is an outstanding talent imho and no question a maker who will make a huge impact in years to come.
He's come an incredible distance in a short time though the thing I'm proudest of is that we've become very good friends.

Thanks for the kind words on the album, Charlie. Now if I can get the "Production" album to rival your collection, I'll have truly accomplished something.

I did take a look at the Puukko and Norse knives and enjoyed those also. My heritage is calling me in that direction - guess I need to answer. Thanks again!

Thanks for the kind words, Fran. I actually do monitor the threads quite often since there is a wealth of knowledge for me to learn from.

I don't post much since I tend to yak more than I need to on the other forum.

But I will take your invitation to heart and try to contribute where I can.

(I had posted one of my Waterville's in a thread recently. Well, that is before I sent it off to Charlie.

Thanks, Desktop. That knife by Joel is one of my absolute favorites. To me it's a near perfect example of a traditional knife.

That knife of Reese's is something else. Bold swedges, a distinctive shield, and that bone.

Oh.....that bone ! Beautiful color, and jigging right up to the liners.

That ain't no plastic appaloosa, worm groove, golden root there !

Thanks for sharing these knives with us. Blues, Your collection has really grown with some unbelievable pieces. Your photos are outstanding. Charlie, your collection continues to impress. That Erickson knife is a looker. I was wondering when I would see an ivory Erickson. Glad you made it happen. I have my first two custom knives being made this month. One from Erickson and one from Joe Allen. I'm looking forward to both.
