Re: Camillus 72 Clones
This should be arriving within the next week. Another Ulster 63, another Camillus 72 variation. When it does finally arrive, I'll give it the once over, take some pictures and post them in the appropriate location(s). It looks like it won't need much, if any, cleaning at all.

Does this Ulster vary from your previous Ulsters?
I know at one time you were looking for a particular tang stamp.

No Floyd, I already have this particular tang stamp.
Here are the Ulster 63 tang stamps I have.

I think I was looking for a different tang stamp on the Schrade 863s.

Re: Camillus 72 Clones
This one arrived yesterday, another Ulster 63, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. Yet another Camillus 72 variation. This one has seen some use in it's lifetime. Now it can retire and relax in my collection. I gave it a very mild cleaning, took a few pictures and here it is.

Re: Camillus 72 Clones
When I first started accumulating Camillus 72's and discovered there existed the same knife only with another tang stamp, pattern # and maybe shield. Since there are so many of them, I scrounged around for a generic term. I settled on "clone" never giving a thought that "clone" is a biological term and isn't really appropriate. Now that said, I'm a firm believer in the right word for the subject being discussed. Communication is vital and I believe we should all be using the same dictionary.
So, if not "clone" then what. I really can't get behind "variation" because the root word is "vary" and there's so little of that in these knives I don't feel it applies.
How about "copy"? Think about putting a piece of paper in a 'copy' machine and what it spits out. The same thing comes out that goes in. Yeah, their not "exact copies" but they're close enough for government work.
What ever. Y'all call 'em what you want to, it don't make me no never mind. I'll probably continue to call them "clones" out of habit, even if that is a biological term.

Picked up this needy HAMMER Brand out of the bay. It needs some attention. It was cheap and I felt sorry for it. Thanks for looking.

Re: Camillus 72 Clones
My latest 72 variation is this, seller claims unbranded, 3 blade, swelled center, "whittler" pocket knife. Through a process of elimination, I'm 99.99% sure it's an Ulster 63. I'm 00.01% sure that it's NOT a Schrade 863 or a Craftsman 9494. When I receive it, it'll get the once over. I'll take some pictures and post them in the appropriate location(s).

Congrats Skip. I'm anxious to see what it is. I had my eye on it and was mowing the yard when it sold. I was hoping someone from AAPK got it. Now to wait for the mystery to be solved.
