Knife and sheath
Here's a drop point hunter I made. Blade is o1 tool steel brass bolsters and spalted maple handle. Leather is wicket and Craig saddle skirting, stamped and lined with deer skin. Pouch sheath. Knife and sheath both made by me.

I agree with dogleg's post, looks elegant and very usable. Lining the sheath with deer hide is a very classy touch.

VERY nice looking knife and sheath.![]()
Thanks for the kind words and warm welcome.folks.
For the record the deer lining is not my idea. I learned it from some tutorials that Paul long(a master sheath maker) has out. It does add a real nice touch and helps hold the knife snug in place.
I started making knives years ago and leather came along after that because I needed sheaths. Now I find myself doing more leather than knives !
If you guys want to see more I'll try and post some more leatherwork up.

Re: Knife and sheath
If you make sheaths for others i am sure there are people here with fixed blades that are in want of a sheath. You can let people know by posting. It is not against the rules as i understand them. A sheath made to fit a specific knife is always better than finding a spare sheath that 'seems' to fit.

I do make knives and sheaths for sale and I for sure do custom leatherwork including sheaths. That being said I don't want to run afoul of any forum rules. I'll have to check into it but thanks for the heads up. I'm just enjoying sharing what I make with you folks ar the moment!

Re: Knife and sheath
Hi Ross,
You caught my attention with you're nice looking work, while I was looking at your pouch sheath with deerskin lining I was thinking to myself that's quite a bit like the one my friend Paul Long made for one of my knives, and then you mentioned his name!
Paul certainly has a certain elegant style to the sheaths that he makes.
If you would like to sell some knives on AAPK there are a couple of ways you can do it, you can start an AAPK store, or if you just want to sell a few knives you can purchase a supporting membership and sell knives in the Knives for Sale and Trade Forum. There are three different levels of supporting membership and with the gold membership I believe there is no limit to the number of knives you can list. However it is functionally easier to start your own store if you have a lot of knives to sell.
Exquisite knife and sheath!
Oh, before I forget,
to AAPK!

Re: Knife and sheath
Dale thanks for the kind words. Paul is a master of his craft and he builds wonderful sheaths for many many master knife makers. Elegant is for sure where his work lives. I try to always give credit where its deserved. I've learned a lot from the leather forums and knife forums as well as talking and learning from other folks. It's the only reason I can make what I make so I think its important to remember we all stand on the shoulders of those before us! Equally important is that we all try to help others to learn too. In so doing we learn more and we teach pass along the craft. At least that's my belief.orvet wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 2:15 am Hi Ross,
