camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Today, I bought this Camillus 72, 3 blade (DUCKS etched on the main blade), swelled center, black bone handles, "whittler" pocket knife. I now have two thirds of the Camillus 72, "black bone handles" trio. It appears to be in excellent condition and won't need any cleaning at all. When I receive it, pictures will be taken and posted in the appropriate location(s).

Skip that's one of my favorites. Take a close look at the etch. It's a real work of art. Great pickup!

It has black jigged handles like the duck one and like the Harley Davidson one but no blade etching and I think the shield is oval. I've got one but you have to be looking to identify one. The jigging is a little different than the delrin ones. Maybe I can remember to post a picture later.

In addition, the pen and coping blades changed places. I think this was done after the closure of the plant.

Thanks Vit. I got it because of the .22 shield. I have a couple of other ones with different handles and shields. ::handshake::

Hey Skip, kootney joe just posted 8 #72's on the buy/sell/trade thread. They looks really nice, and very reasonable prices too. Just wanted to give you heads up.

I fished the elusive plain black bone out of the bay the other day. Pretty much new. I was surprised again that I was the only one bidding. One I had really been looking for so glad to get it.
