Hand Made Leather Strops
Have any of you made your own leather strops? I made a couple. Here is the one that I kept for myself, notice the leather lanyard, braded it also.

Nice lookin' strop Keith.
A carver friend of mine made one out of pigskin. I have a few, bought them all for a couple bucks at a carving shop.
By the way Chris, I like to load mine up with aluminum oxide. Doesn't take much and does a fine job.

I make mine too, I like a smooth canvas side to knock the burr off then go to the leather side, Ileave the leather alone and load the canvas with matchless white

I make my own strops from leather. I put jeweler's rouge on it and hone away. Works great. If I want to get more of a shine I add a little pumice onto the rouge. It is more aggressive than the rouge.
