Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

In 1980, the Hunt brothers attempted to corner the market on silver. It was estimated they owned 1/3 of the world's silver.

You're coming right along Skip. There are several I don't see but you're tenacious and you'll get 'em.

As for the unmarked pearl handle in the last picture, there's a possibility that it's a Whitetail. I say that because the one I have like it came to me with a slip of paper as shown below. So maybe, maybe not but I've decided the knife was made in Pakistan. It has some of the ear-marks of old Paki's work.

Thank you Jerry. ::handshake:: As far as the unbranded knife goes, we went over this when I first purchased it. It definitely isn't a Whitetail, we agreed that it was either Chinese or Pakistan, leaning towards Pakistan. ::shrug::

I just now acquired this SCHRADE, WALDEN, 3 blade, swelled center, 863 pattern, "KON KAV" blade etch, "whittler" pocket knife. Yes, another Camillus 72 variation. It looks like it's in very good condition. When I receive it, I'll give it the once over, take some pictures and post them in the appropriate location(s).

You will find the knife has pins through the bolsters. It means it was made before the swinden system .Before 1960.

Hi Kevin. I just want to make sure you understand what I said. I'm not saying that Jerry is wrong, NOT AT ALL. I'm just wondering that if your knife, made for Sears by Camillus, would still be considered a (Craftsman) pattern 9494? Or did it have a different pattern number since it was made by Camillus? Was the name "Craftsman" solely used on Schrade contract knives for Sears? I have never seen a Craftsman knife with any kind of Camillus stamp or marking. Of course I could be wrong and probably am. If this is confusing, I don't mean it to be. ::shrug::

It's still a FANTASTIC knife! ::tu:: No matter what company made it for what company.

Thanks Skip. Were lucky to have both you and Jerry! Don't know much about them myself but I know I like the knife. Will EDC it for a while. Nice half stops on two smaller blades and Saber grind on main. Think it will be a good cutter. Thanks to you and Jerry for your insights. Really appreciate you guys. :) ::handshake::
