Western 062 Folding Hunter
I purchased this knife awhile ago and probably paid a bit too much for it. I had some ruby red bone that was large enough for this knife so that’s what I put on it.
One of the bolsters was less than square to the liner so I ended up with a very small gap where the bone meets the rear bolster The bone is tight at the bottom edge at the liner but has a small gap at the top edge of the bolster where it matters most!.
It’s a nice knife with minimal blade loss although the blades are heavily scratched.
I’ll keep it on my shelf for the time being and figure out what to do with it later.

Thanks Treefarmer!treefarmer wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 8:53 pmThere's just something about a red bone handled knife! I've got a couple of 062 Westerns and they are still in their original factory attire, I sure like the looks in the new red outfit, well done, Sir!

Nice job Jeff! You picked what is probably my favorite two blade folding hunter pattern, and they have outstanding steel! I have two or three of them sitting around here waiting for me to get to them, and another one that I want to do for myself.

I wanted one of these for a long time, they just look and feel right. And yes, “so little time”.

Looks great Jeff. I sure like that Barlow with the red bone scales you sent me with the POS knives.

That red Barlow was one of the ones I like to buy from time to time to modify. The Grand Daddy Barlows can be a crap shoot, sometimes the fit and finish is good, sometimes it’s not. On that particular knife the spring end doesn’t meet the blade tang as nicely as I would like. everything else fit pretty well. I considered taking it apart and fixing it but decided to pass it along to its next home.
It works great and the red bone was really nice. I’m glad you like it!

Thanks Byrd!
I like the feel of that knife, it just feels good in the hand. I've been looking for another one but prices right now are currently around $40-$50. I'll just have to keep looking.
