That’s a beauty Tom.
Probably my last 86 knife came in today. I think this might be one of GEC’s best patterns that they have done. These 86’s have a great feel in hand. It’s not a small knife either and it comes in at about 4 ounces, so it has some weight to it. I still like the feel of the wooden handled ones best. This is the chocolate almond peach seed jigged bone from JSR.

TPK, good looking H&R. Congrats.
Mark, that is one impressive knife. The flashes of white bone at the bolsters beautifully set off the fine jigging.

Thank you for the response QS. I did some more reading and compared the Bulldog knives here on AAPK with Bulldog knives sold under the Frost name on other websites like SMKW and Frost Cutlery and I'm convinced that this knife is made by The Frost Cutlery Co. It uses the same bulldog shield and tang stamp, but no stamps on the pile side of the blades match the blades of earlier Bulldog knives. Also the box says "German DESIGN" and Made in China.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 5:54 pm Dave, I hope you find your Bulldog to be satisfactory for you. The identifications of BDs by generation only applies to the German made and finally some American made (GEC or Queen)BDs. You can learn about the generations on the Bulldog thread. Personally, I have found knives of exceptional quality in every generation. However, the first generation are most desired and often the most expensive. One of the reasons is simply that they are, well, the first.
I have been unable to discover the current owner of the brand. It might be Frost,Taylor Brands, or even Smokey Mountain. If the Chinese made are of the quality of Rough Rider or Marbles for example, then they will be very practical as users. At this point, I feel it is fair to say there is no collector interest in the China made BDs.
I would be interested in knowing your experience with your China made BD.
From this one knife I would say they are on the same level as the Marbles. I have over a dozen RR's and I personally believe the RR's are more durable knife. I'm in agreement with you, I'm not looking to collect these, but I will sure be on the lookout for the older ones, if my bank account with stay up with my collecting. Thanks QS for you help.

My first Case, a 1977 06247.
Technically, I owned a Granddaddy barlow once, but it doesn't count. I sold that one, I'm going to keep and use this knife.

Christian. I haven't seen your smiling face in a good bit. I hope you're doing well and not in the fire danger area.

Thanks Jerry. I still drop in from time to time to drool over all the pictures.
Everything's fine here. Little danger of fire at the moment since everything is still so beautifully green. Different situation once everything dries out.

Yeah baby. Love that wrench shield. Good snag.
These landed in Liberal Land today. I bought the Buck which was supposed to be a Mini-Trapper and turned out to be a Tiny Trapper. Bleh. Made in China and not worth the time and cost of sending it back. Live and learn. It is well put together and very snappy.
The two Ganzo Automatics were a gift from samb1955. Wowza. Love 'em. Especially the purple one. They are hot stuff baby!!! Thanks Sam. You da man.

This is my latest purchase… Been trying to buy one for years finally found one for sale and pulled the trigger…Haven’t decided if I’m going to display it permanently or just when I set up at shows… It would take a small fortune to pry it from my hands! I wanted one for so long and I can’t see myself ever getting rid of it!

Hello there! I absolutely love this set.. good find my fellow knife addict!.. I really like just about any hobo knife/kit that’s well made.. congrats!Ultrastooge wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 12:44 am Love that picture Ken!
Here’s another eBay purchase for my hobo collection. Omega cutlery Germany, possible Bakelite crack-free handles, great snap, stainless. It came pretty clean, I only buffed out some surface scratches. Not sure how old this one is, if anyone has an idea please weigh in.
