I live in Washington State And would like to know if there are any good people who can sharpen my Knives?

Unfortunately I can't help because I live in California. Most cutlery shops do sharpening as a sideline, have you tried that?

Just out of curiosity, what kind of knives are they?

I have some Kershaws Crkts some A.G. Russells S and W some bucks and some cases.

I'd say any cutlery shop would probably be able to do it. They generally charge about $1 per inch and a little more for serrated blades.

If you have any interest in doing it yourself, the Spyderco Sharpmaker is the best and easiest sharpening gizmo on the market IMO, and it's simplicity makes it particularly suitable for beginners. I'm a novice sharpener myself, and I've even been able to sharpen re-curved and serrated blades with it. It would run you about $50 and a quick Google search would turn up dozens of internet vendors who sell them.

Porkchop123, it sounds like you have more than a couple of knives to sharpen, so this might be more economical for you in the long run. And as longbeachbum has mentioned, this is a nice setup.

If your knives are really, really dull, it may take quite some time. But, for most knives that need touching up, it's just a minute or two.

I have sharpened my own knives for 40 years and have a collection of stones, some man made, others natural. The first knives I sharpened as a Cub Scout (8 or 9 years old - to long ago to remember) looked pretty bad, blades scratched etc. I sharpened those knives so much that the blades eventually looked like awls.

It takes practice and there are good products out there to sharpen knives with out scratching your blades. I never liked the devices that held the knife at a perfect angle evey time, like the one Buck made, I found these to be cumbersome. Practice makes perfect and I would never suggest practicing on a prized knife, use something cheap, that you don't care about.
I like Bill's suggestion and I noticed that one had a book and a video, that should be most helpful. Good Luck!

Of course, that should have occurred to me. That's about the best price you'll find anywhere for this system as well.

In all honesty... That is a great sharpening system. AAPK sells more of those than any other sharpening system and I get lots of positive comments about them too.
