Ornithology (Bird) Thread

Nice flock of turkeys, Homer. Turkeys are increasingly common in my area, but so far none have visited my back yard.

Jeff - your comment about never having seen an owl made me stop and think a bit. I have seen several owls in my life, but certainly less than one per year. And I have spent most of my life working and playing outdoors. Very elusive birds, the owls.

Been having some Junco's (I think) and a Cardinal couple visiting the feed the last few days.

Yes those are Juncos. Nice shots. My male and female Cardinals come together each day. I trust they will not be among the 20% of Cardinals that get divorced in the Spring.

QS, I was unaware of the spring divorce rate among cardinals. These two were together last year so hopefully they will stick.

I am confident that my two have twice rasised families here and in the Spring will be the third. My confidence is based on the fact that this pair is here year round. They never leave.

Very nice Junco and Cardinal photos, Dogleg. No Juncos in my back yard so far this year.

I have a pretty good range of birds in my garden this week. Here is a little House Wren: they are actually quite unusual in my yard.

Then there are the House Finches like this pair. Plenty of House Finches all year in my area.

And Tufted Titmice. Titmice are one of my favorite birds. Fairly vocal and very active. In this photo Titmouse and Finch are munching on black oil Sunflower seed.

Last bird that sat long enough to have his picture made on this Dog fennel stem was an Eastern Phoebe that y'all helped identify. Today I believe this one needs no research, an Eastern Bluebird.

Bluebirds are pretty active in my neighborhood right now, Treefarmer. They seem to think it is spring!
