Two older ones

Hi I have these two older slipppies The Pearl-ish one is an Imperial Provinence RI The small blade has a bunch of numbers like so..

2478855 < Not possitive about the two eights in the middle, but I belive that is what they are.

The second is an old girlscout knife. I think it says Kutmaster or something ...master from Utica NY

I was wondering if you guys could help me date them and possibly put a value on them as well. I wouls also like any information you guy's might have as well, even blade steel if possible.

This is the best I can do with the pictures.

hiya Inkster. I can shed a bit of light on your knives. The Imperial is not all that old, and it is of the crimped on handle/bolster construction. That construction is what the numbers refer to, those are patent numbers. At one time, Imperial was cranking out 10,000 of these a day.

The Utica is an official Girl scout knife, probably made in the late thirties or later. Value is maybe $25 or 30 dollars.

Although neither knife is particularly valuable, they are interesting. I have seen some huge, great collections of colorfully handled imperials of the 'shell handle' type and some people really enjoy collecting old scouting knives.

Sorry, Inkster, the steel info I don't have. Seems obvious from the patina those old knives develope that it is some sorta carbon steel.

That's what I found to be odd, they really haven't changed that much. Not that I had them for ever but they seem to be holding on pretty well.
