Re: Lets see some stag
Stag knives just keep showing up here. It is amazing material! And it's like snowflakes; no two alike. Here's a nice single backspring Case from the late 1960s.

Re: Lets see some stag
I'm not sure why it's so white, Johnnie. It makes it look like North American deer stag, but as far as I know, it is Sambar. I don't believe it is re-handled.

Nice case Charlie, not to try and detract from your beautiful knife, but it looks to me to be professionally rehandled, but i've been known to be wrong before.

looks very much like the later stag case knives with v preceeding the pattern#. they did not seem to toast them.

Re: Lets see some stag
Well, I never say never! It could be, MM, but Tony Foster has seen it, and neither of us can see anything that tells us rehandle. There is a touch of yellow at the edges, on both sides, which you see on Case stag. It's almost like it was very lightly burned, then mostly buffed off.
The rivets inside are all there, including the shield's rivets, and they don't look messed with. Nickel-silver liners.
Here's its elder brother!!

Thanks, MM!! Could have been polished off for sure.
Does that "V" indicate genuine stag, or carved stag-bone Johnnie??

Very nice ones everyone.
Here's my Hubertus, must be an older one, marked west germany, has very rough unpolished stag.
Thanks Casechaserxx, its definately made with the same quality as the pocketknives of the same age that Case made.

Re: Lets see some stag
I am a big advocate of just leaving stag alone; but I just got these exclusive Red Stag (dyed) trappers (1 and 2 blade) in from Canal Street and really like them. It is like a combination between the old Case Smooth Rose bone and Stag.
