Cool! ::tu:: Thanks for posting yours so that we can compare the two. ::hmm:: Here's an idea, yours was found near a creek, his (geocash's) was found in a creek on different sides of the globe. This leads me to think they may have had something to do with British soldiers & maybe something to do with belts or canteens? ::shrug:: Maybe? ::shrug:: I found an old tobacco pipe head in a creek as a kid. I'll see if I can find it and post it here with my EDC'c on the weekend. ::tu::

Nice toothpick! ::tu:: ::super_happy::

Gotta run,
Tom
this is how they were worn. i was told they are found near creeks because thats where the troopers camped for the night.to water the horses.and got lost when they took there gear off.?
Went looking for one of these talismans today. After a lot of searching several things point to the French Army & the Napoleonic Wars timeframe. ::tu:: "napoleonic belt buckle" Thought you guys might be interested in the info. ::handshake::

That is a beauty, sir. ::tu:: I love the old pocket-worn Rogers bone on that. That knife probably has a lot of stories to tell.

Speaking of Rogers bone, another gem. Those Voos jacks are underappreciated. Handsome bones, snappy as all get-out, and they cut like a dream. Everybody should have three. ::paranoid:: ::smirk::

Today I've got a Case Ratcliffe and a rehandled old "Made in USA" (likely by Camillus) scout.
Those are 2 beauties Tsar ::tu:: . That bone really fixes up the scout, who did the re-scaling for you? I have a few knifes that need that kind of treatment :wink: .

I wish I knew, Willy, because I want to know what kind of jigged bone was used. It came to me cleaned up and rehandled before I ever got it. I took a flier on it because the "Made in USA" stamp is one Camillus would use for various purposes and it looks like my #99s. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it being cobbled, because the opener, lifter and punch all appear to be from different eras. Combine that with the new bones and I doubt there's much collector value left.

It makes an excellent user, however, and the punch has the sharpest point of any in my hoard. It is my #1 go-to scout knife in my EDC pile.

Thanks for the compliments. ::handshake:: The dogleg is one of the more mysterious old HOKs I've got. Any tang stamp it once had was ground/worn off in the past, I haven't found a single matching knife anywhere so far, and I haven't found any characteristics that help identify the maker. I only know that it's likely old (original bones, hammered pins), holds a super edge, and features high quality construction. Got it a couple years back for a song and glad I did.

Ok …. ::hmm:: . There good head scratchers for sure, I'll do a little thinking, lookin at my pile of vintage knives and see if I can scrounge up anything. The bone on the dogleg looks like vintage rogers jigging, I have a bunch of WWII Imperial Easy Openers with exactly the same jigging/coloring. I'm holding 1 of my iron bolstered WWII easy openers and it has 2 different bone slabs/jigging patterns. 1 is rogers bone, the other looks a lot like your scout (if mine was in better condition). Maybe yours and mine were factory pieced together out of different parts they had lying around? ::hmm::
Otherwise your 2 look to be in excellent condition, and the scout looks to have iron bolsters, indicative of WWII construction.
Hope that helps!

You can't go wrong with the 66. I have a bunch of them, several are carry knives. I think highly of the pattern.

I'm carrying my wonderful vintage pair this weekend. I finally broke my edc streak for the 861, went 46 days. I'll still carry it but right now my 884 is the edc slot.
