I think ivory is no longer a GEC option. Only way now is to have a GEC knife re-handled with ivory.
Anyone know if GEC will still use mammoth ?

A few months ago SSK posted a Case with the most beautiful "Autumn Bone" something or other handles. Awesome! :D
That would be my pick if I had to pick. If you read this Mark, would you post a picture of that knife again for me?
That would be a beautiful Club knife in my opinion. ::tu::

My dream AAPK knife would be a spear point TC Barlow, but I'm not seeing that happen anytime in the near future... I'd also go bananas for a granddaddy Barlow but they would probably have to develop a new pattern for that. ::shrug::

I realize this thread is about a “dream” knife, but some of the suggestions (ivory, mammoth, camel, kangaroo, etc) are likely to result in pricey knives. $$$$!

Can there only be one handle type on the AAPK knife ? We could have 3 or more handle options and ask members to commit to the ones they will buy.
If it is a fine knife they will sell out.

There have been multiple offerings before. In 2016 there were two jigged bone varieties. I ended up buying one of each, plus a factory second to use for EDC.

I suspect it's not easy to get GEC to commit to a smaller SFO run using exotic materials. Still, I'd seriously consider at least one mammoth offering.

Is Case an option? Wound they fill such a small order? If yes that does open a lot of options. Case's first four blade Trapper or Mini-Trapper? A three blade Daddy Barlow? 154CM blades? Case has used 154CM but never polished it bright. Sooner or later I'm going to buy a 6488 large Congress so that would be a less exciting but good choice for me.

Perhaps the question to settle first is size. Many members do not want to carry their knives in belt pouches so naturally they tend toward small knives. I have a little collection of 3" and under knives but I will not pay GEC prices for anything under 4".

Case has made 5243 and 6243 Daddy Barlows. With long spey and clip blades they were Case's 2nd largest trappers. The largest were 62050 Coke Bottles. If the AAPK knife is a 6243 I'll buy more than one. While a 6343 is a tease the thread title includes "Dream."

I'm a big fan of most of the Case barnboard bone offerings. I have a 2019 spearpoint green barnboard bone Barlow en route right now, coincidentally enough.

If he could handle the volume I’d love to have something done by Eric (ea42). He has done some excellent work.

I’ll second that. But as far as I know no one but that chicom company makes them now a days. Oh well, it would be nice though.

While we’re dreaming though what about a CAMILLUS 72 “Whittler”! I sure wish somebody would pick that pattern back up.

Case or a nice Buck stockman would be real nice though. I’m not a big fan of GEC.

The Camillus 72 is a 3 5/8" swell center sleeveboard pattern. The closest GEC pattern is the #33 which is 3 3/8" equal end swell center. I don't think any knife manufacturer in USA has a pattern that matches the Camillus 72.
Maybe GEC could make a new pattern based on the Camillus 72 frame ? We get the first run, then they could make a variety of blade arrangements on that frame. A new GEC pattern ::super_happy:: crowds go crazy

The only thing I know about the GEC 33 pattern is what kootney joe wrote but Case's 83 swell center is closer in length to a Camillus 72. This thread would be more helpful if we were told what the options are. I suspect it is going to be one of the patterns that GEC produces for their retailers. The only pattern showing on their site's production schedule is the small 62 Congress with 2 and 3 blades.
