It seems that Knife Nut has quite a nice collection of them! I never saw one of these before. When were most of those made?

I've got a lot more, but my camera quit on me. I still can't take a good picture of a knife. I'll try later to get some more. I'm still looking for a Cattaraugus opener, If anyone knows where one might be.

Most of these were made pre 1940. Almost all Cutlery Companies made openers. These were given away with purchase of the display cabinets and stock of knives. The salesmen used them as well as the cutlers themselves. If you opened hundreds of knives all of the time your fingernails would'nt stand up to it. Needless to say, these are harder to find than most of the pocketknives are. There are a lot of reproduction Remingtons and Winchesters out there.
