The overflow case

I'm a Remington collector, I sell duplicate knives to buy others I dont have. I have a case that is full of knives that are there for whatever reason, duplicates, not mint, fakes I've bought, knives I intend to sell, not enough display space, or I'm just not attached to them. I'm curious if others have a similar place for these types of knives.

I don't have very many knives so I haven't had much of a space problem till now. I had 3 knives in good condition that I wasn't really attached to & I "needed the space" so I gave them away. They all found good homes, it was fun & I made some new friends. Of course selling or trading them may be more productive, IMO, giving them away can also be fulfilling. And someone just gave me a knife at Christmas time so the good I sent out came back to me. (Thanks 1967!)

For years now i have needed to 'clean house'. Every single horizontal surface that is above floor level is covered by knives that are 'not the best', sometimes in layers 2-3 deep.
Every year i say to myself "i must get some organization going here". I hope this will be the year so that eventually i will be able to sit at a table to eat.
This is no joke or exaggeration. It is my pathetic reality.

All of my EDC's, beaters, or extras go in a tin box. Most all of them are knives I don't need, I just bought them because they looked cool and I found them at a really good price. I bought all of them used, most with scratches and dings. They don't get any special treatment.

After that's full, I'll probably just get a small cardboard box and use that.

I have on the wall in my office closet.

I never sell or throw away a knife. I can just hear my kids saying later, "why did Dad keep these old knives?"

Those with the blade, drivers, bottle opener, and LED I have scattered around the house--at one point, I was buying multiple used lots that always included one.

Here's mine, contained in my Granddad's old Aladdin USA lunchbox from the coalmines. These are cheapos that never worked out for me, broken, and broken/need warranty work because the manufacturer is still in business and covers anything. And, it's overflowing! I need to offload most of these. There's another box in the outbuilding that's equally full.

This pile of POS was what made me really cut back on lot buying.

Since the hook remover on the scaler is busted, I really want to have this '65-69 95 pattern Case Fisherman pared down to a one-bladed Toothpick with some nice scales put on it. Originally, they were celluloid and outgassed. Tore them off before any damage could be done.

I messed up sharpening this 2000 Trapper back 4-5 years ago. Other than a shield falling out and the recurves due to my bad sharpenign, it's fine. It really shouldn't be here.

For just a few years (late '90s-early '00s), Schrade exclusively made this model for Sears Craftsman, who offered it as theri 45471 multitool. It is the ultimate design, as the pliers are slip-joint, and even heavier-duty than the ST-1. There is also a 6-in-1 screwdriver (I"m missing all the bits and the 5/16-1/4 adapter sleeve) instead of the crappy Phillips the ST-1 has. In 2003, for one year, Schrade sold it as the ST-5E with Schrade in place of Craftsman markings. Back when I first became aware of them, decent ones were going for $100 plus. I bought this one for $20--unfortunately, most implements or damaged, or missing parts. I've been able to find a pretty large amount of Tough Tool/Tough Grip parts (including an entire right handle for the ST-5E, with implements installed and everything) for peanuts through a lot of cutlery dealers. Just not the pins/sleeves that hold the tool together.

Oh, cool idea with the plastic bins David! Never thought of that.
You could even organize them well with those. Thanks for the idea.

I have an odd goal in my collecting. No duplicates, an example of every pattern, so when I can up upgrade I do. There are 6 non Remington knives in there, they are knives that are my wife's.

Some knives "flick my bic", & some just don't. But they trick me into buying them. I'm getting better though.
If I would only buy nice stuff like Case, Quenn, Remington etcetera, I'd feel the same way but when your buying the 5-20$ shipped stuff, it happens. I've bought some el cheapo's I really like, some are just ok & some I should have passed on.
You win some, you lose some I guess. But..., I'm learning what I like & what I don't like so much. 8 months ago, I had no idea except that I wanted a "Purina" knife. Then I got hooked.
