Remington English Jack?

Post by 256newton »

What do you think of this Remington on ebay? (300241394005) Sorry, I don't know how to post a link. I requested better pics (and got them) but he still doesn't show any markings. The blade is worn and maybe tipped. But what bothers me most is that the pivot pin is really obvious on both sides. Do you think it has been re-bladed? Thanks! Steve

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say a rebalde. jigging looks more like NY style jigging than Remington from what I can see in the pics.

The jigging doesn't really remind me of NYK Co jigging, their jigging was very regular, this looks irregular. As a matter of fact the jigging doesn't really set off any alarms with me, however, I would say that it is very rare to see a Remington knife without a shield, I know there are a few, but not many.

Maybe a real expert can weigh in, but, on balance, there does seem to be some doubt.

If you're wanting an authentic vintage Remington, you'd do well to pass on this one. ::td::
