My son Matthew is doing great, but I'm the one now that can't get off the heating pad or find a position to sleep without pain. I have an appointment tomorrow with a specialist at the Texas Back Institute in Denton.
Yeah I went on ebay and did some bidding and won a few of them, but that's not how I like to find knives. I need the hunt, to hold the knife and the contact with people face to face. Take care doglegg.

Nice finds. I see the hammer and sickle on the tang of the green knife, was that made by a Russian Company?

No. It was made in the 70's in a factory called Sickle and Hammer in a small village near Veliko Tarnovo. Interestingly, there is no Soviet knife factory with the sickle and hammer logo.

It's interesting to me that you call it Sickle and Hammer and we call it Hammer and Sickle. Things that make you go Hmmmm.

I suppose it is in that order, because in the Soviet Union they pronounced it that way - (ru) серп и молот; (bg) сърп и чук

Hey, Floyd! One knife waited for the handle to be shaped, but I used micartа. I hate micarta, a lot of dust, my ventilation is not good, I have to work with a mask. Next week I have to finish it, however ...
This week I made new handles on two old knives. And because I don't take money for my work, in return I got two kilos of fresh pork, a liter of home-made brandy and two liters of wine

It is not strange. :D Tаrnovo and Gabrovo have been the center of crafts for the Balkans since the Middle Ages.

I've been seeing lots of nice finds by you guys on this and some other threads, especially Scott! All the mailman brought me today was an ebay win from a few days ago. A WOSTENHOLM I*XL SINGLE-BLADE LOCKBACK. It's a very nice little knife and will be a good EDC for me.

I have two Wostenholms in my EDC rotation (a Jack and an Electrician) and find them to be among the best knives I own.

Ladies and fellers the postman left me something I'd been craving for a while. The ones I'd bid on and seen on the bay was pretty rough and they wanted more than I wanted to pay, finally found one that looked decent so I waited and waited and luckily my late bid got her. She's from my time frame in the Nam. I thought it looked pretty good in the sellers photos, but after I got it, in my opinion she's pretty near mint,."" ymmv" I'm tickled pink, was afraid I gave to much for it but now I think I got a pretty fair deal. ::super_happy:: ::handshake::

Recently I had great difficulty finding anything, then at a gun show in Southern Indiana I was able to pickup a few knives for very little cash.
First a Case Cigar Stockman 63090 $20
Case Equal End Utility Knife 63090..aka..Cigar Stockman..pix.1.jpg
then a Kabar 1081 Stockman for $5

, then an Imperial Swell Center Tuxedo Knife for $5

, then an Utica Pen Knife circa 1940 for $5

Utica Pen Knife circa 1940...pix.3.jpg
, then an Ulster Boy Scout Knife..circa 1969 for $7

, and finally a Victorinox Swiss Champion for $15.

. I have another gun show coming up this coming weekend, hopefully it will be as productive. Although nothing here has great value, I enjoy the "hunt" and being able to work any purchased knives (save the Boy Scout knife) into my EDC. I believe the Imperial Tuxedo and Utica pen knife to be celluliod so it is questionable if these two will get into my EDC.

Today I retrieved this Camillus 72 variation from the post office. Another McGrew Arkansas, 3 blade, swelled center, "whittler" pocket knife. I gave it a gentle once over, but it was in very nice condition. These are MY pictures.
