Cleaning Recomendation

I pulled this old Utica Electricians knife out tonight, and decided I wanted to try and get some of the grime and discoloration off the blades..
The screwdriver/Stripper blade has some lettering on it (how to operate the lock on the center liner it looks like)
Any suggestions on the best way to polish up this old knife?

WD40...let sit 5 minutes...wipe with cotton cloth...blow out with canned air.
More aggresive methods may devalue the knife.

Well the knife has been carried and Sharpened,
So not too sure if it is Highly Valued right now,
Was wondering how well a buffing wheel would work?

I'm in the same camp as Bill on this one, If it were mine, I wouldn't take it any further than what he perposed.

If you decide to go further, I'd start with some semi-chrome, or flitz metal glow and rub it down good and thorough with a cotton cloth. See what it looks like at that point. If you feel the need to clean more, I've heard that copper wool (accompanied with wd-40) is quite effective in cleaning metal without leaving scratches/buff marks/etc. It's not the easiest thing to find though. ...when you are satisfied, I highly recomend a coat of renaissnace wax (That stuff is great IMO!).

There is a mild chemical product I use to clean and polish old wookworking planes I restore. I am out of it right now, can't find the can, my brain has quit on me, and I can't remember the name. It comes in a small metal can similar to a shoe wax polish can, filled with cotton, treated with the chemical. I buy it at an auto parts store. Works good. I'll get back to you as soon as I remember or find the name. I'll probably have to call the store. (If I can even remember the store, and find my telephone.)

I think wittlenut is referring to NEVR-DULL. It works quite well on most things associated with cutlery.
