1986 or 1987 Case E172 SS Clasp Knife???

Post by Bryan »

I have a couple of these knives and I'm getting ready to unload them. I've seen them on a couple other ocasions, but never could found them in any of the books I have.

Pattern number is E172 SS. Handle scales are laminated wood (stamina wood I guess) with shades of green. The tang stamp with dots is on the mark side. It is hidden well by the bolster. There are at least three dots. Two on the right of lightening SS's. Can't see the other side of the SS's. Might be one or two more ::shrug::

I believe Case discontinued the standard 72 pattern after 1982 or thereabout. I guess maybe they did another run in the later 80s? Maybe a SFO of some sort ::shrug::

Anybody know anything about these? Wonder why they put the E in the pattern number. ...just to differentiate the green shades used in the handle maybe?

Thanks in advance!

Good advice ...and thanks! I considered emailing Case, but I try to only bother them folks with emergency cases
