Wife and I fished on the ICW for about an hour Sunday afternoon, I caught some trash fish (Needlefish and Lizardfish). My wife lost her swimshad lure in an oyster bed, then caught it 20 minutes later! Still waiting on the Specks to show in our area - they’re still on the Oceanside of the island this far south. OH

Yup, the deer have done perty well this year. Last year was super easy on them, so there are quite a few around, and I imagine some big bucks. Heck, we get every kind of Canadian animal come through here. Deer, elk, moose, black and brown bear, cougers, bobcats, coyotes, ducks, geese, swans, stray cat's and dogs , ect. ect.. We aren't that far (as the crow flys) from provincial parks in SK & MB. Dad got 240 acres 10 miles from us (just on the mb side of the border), and it's a main run for elk. Our area is also a main rut for moose. You name it, we got it! Not to mention overload of beavers! We got a father and son duo hunters that have set up out here for maybe 5 years counting. They have knocked off over 30 beavers for us, a few moose and a couple bears. You wouldn't believe some of the beavers they have shown us. Probably the biggest i'v ever seen in me 20 years on this earth. Think of a 40lbs lab, that's how big 1 of them was. We also have another father/son duo just set up this year during geese season. They are also dad's go to mechanics, lol!
Also Saskatchewan is getting to many black bears, so gov is going to call open season next year to thin them out.
Anyway, if anyone ever want's to come up to Canada to hunt, your more then welcome to set up on our place, for free. As long as you let us know first, and clean up some beavers, your free to hunt as much as you want.

David, girls and bows have gotten to be a big thing around here. One of my shooting friends daughter is in a league and a girl at church. And most are pretty good at it. Congrats on their marksgirlship.

Today marked the annual beginning of getting ready for ski season, which, for me, is traditionally kicked off with a viewing of the new Warren Miller movie. Not sure if you guys have ever heard of Warren Miller, but he is the hands down father of the ski movie. Each year, for 70 years now, Warren Miller Entertainment cranks out a new "motivational" flick highlighting both resort and backcountry skiing and snowboarding.

Well, Warren passed away last year but his legacy continues. Since this thread is dedicated to outdoor activities I thought this would be appropriate. This year's movie is titled Timeless and includes footage from Mustang Powder, BC; Chamonix, France; Silverton, CO; Zermatt, SZ; Mike Wiegele Heli-Skiing in BC; Eldora, CO; Kitzbühel, AU; Bella Coola, BC and Jackson Hole, WY. Narrated now solely by Jonny "KT-22" Moseley. His voice is almost as soothing and relaxing as Warren's was.

Google or YouTube Warren Miller and see what all the hype is about. And if it encourages you to hit the Mid-Atlantic slopes this Winter, shoot me a PM if you're looking for company. Hope to see you out there getting in some turns!

I spent many years skiing Red Mountain in Rossland, B.C. It's like Jackson Hole in a way as 90% of skiing is off run in the trees. Two mountains then, Red & Granite with 360 degree skiing on both but there are old mining pits everywhere to add excitement. After 20 years i was still finding areas i not skied before. Now there are 4 mountains, lifts added to Grey & Kirkup which we used to tour to. Best skiing in Canada and base of lift is 2 miles from town. You can ski home to your own house in town.
I no longer have the strength or balance to ski but i have many great memories of powder and back country cabins buried in snow.

After 40 years of owning and at times living on a 50 acre piece of mountainside in south central B.C., i finally put up 3 game cameras.
These are pictures from the first week.
It is amazing to realize there is a whole other life that goes on only in the dark when humans are inside.

one of the 2 pictures will not upload, i get a yellow triangle when i try to "add files". It is a night time picture of a cougar as is the one that does upload.
Anyone know why ?

I've been cranking out pics since I purchased my first camera. Nothing fancy, just a outdoors superzoom. Still able to get great picture quality, just have to be in correct lighting/distance. Here's a few samples of this previous week (when the weather permitted)….

KJ, amazing pics. You sure grow em big up north. We don’t have any dear nearly as big as that. No bears, no wolves and no mountain lions. Until recently I didn’t realize there were Bob Cat’s near here. Someone struck and killed one with a car about 2 miles from my home and the pic was in the local paper. I wonder what else is living around here?

True for all of us. With a game camera that can take pictures at night, a whole other world is revealed. We humans know our daytime environment well but don't realize that a great deal happens in the dark which we are not aware of.
I live in south central B.C., N/E end of Kootenay Lake (Johnson's Landing) if you want to find it on a map or Google Earth. Or more simply, due north of Spokane about 100+ miles north of the border.
Last picture is of myself on my 1998 Honda Foreman. I still think of it as my "new ATV" even though i have had it for 21 years. It still works 'like new' whereas i have aged ++ !

Very cool pictures though! I especially like that Cougar that you caught on film. Great stuff! If you ever get any Big Foot pictures we all want copies please.

Here are pics from another night (Nov. 4). Not sure if this is the same 5 point bull. Rack looks a bit bigger ? Hunting season here goes Sept 10 to Oct 20 and for bulls only and must have at least 6 points on one side; i.e. bull shown here is not yet legal. In one of the pics you can see cows and likely a calf beside the bull. Calf elk can dress out to 175 pounds and can look almost as big as a cow elk. But the muzzle is shorter in calves and even yearlings.
Also showing a picture of what covers my lawn around the house, at least 100 piles.

I'm seeing some great pictures, keep posting! If I put out a night camera the only thing I would see is armadillos and a few stray dogs or maybe a coyote.
