Here is an AAPK posting that sheds a little light on Chicago Cutlery folding knives: viewtopic.php?t=16119. Also, if you search on "Chicago Cutlery" using the AAPK Search function you will find more postings.

There is an abbreviated history of the company here: http://www.onlyknives.com/category/bran ... o-cutlery/.

Finally, here is a more detailed history from the Chicago Tribune but the article is old:https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct- ... story.html.

wow In the Chicago Tribune had a lot of Information! But over the years, 1980s to now, my P 19 with the circle medallion is the only one I've seen, and no stamping on the wood. hope someone will shed some more light into this :)

Any way to tell a USA made kitchen knife? I've been meaning to start scouring thrift stores and the like for some. My folks have a set of older (I'm thinking made in the '80s) Chicago Cutlery steak knives, embossed on the handle, but they do seem to have rather decent steel that takes a pretty good edge; versus the store-brand Chinesium stuff my Grandmother mostly owns.

"Chinesium" ...I learned a new 'steel' word today. Thanks for that Cody. ::groove:: Yeah...I'll be using it too. ::tu::
