Finally busted with Federal Indictments !!!!!!
The Cookeville, TN. daily newspaper, Herald-Citizen, headlines on May 8th reported that a mother /son duo had finally been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on several counts of Internet fraud. Mary and John Hopson have been a real pain in my crawl and the wallets of many unsuspecting buyers for several years. The indictments state this pair had bilked buyers out of $ 64,000.00 ....the real amount will never be known since a large portion of buyers never reported the loss.
This pair had operated as Cumberland Knives before changing their business name to Cookeville Cutlery, Cripple Creek Knives, and others. Bob Cargill, owner of the trademark Cripple Creek , squashed that little indiscretion quickly once I informed him of the name theft.
Needless to say , this pair has caused me much grief. I have gotten calls from all over the world thinking I was the one they ordered from and they were quite po'ed. We did what we could to help but not much ever become of it until the Fed's busted thier little bubble.
Over the past year or so they switched to selling all forms of consumer products, anything to collect payments. The main items were of the cutlery nature early on. It is amazing how some people get away with this for so long...as they did.
Read the Herald-Citizen article here http://www.herald-citizen.com/index.cfm ... 2A21821777.
If you were a victim , contact me , maybe I can help. Maybe there really is a Santa Claus.
We are not associated with these jerks !!!!!!

Well Bill I'm glad they got thoose crooks up the road. Too bad they picked your monicker BUT under civil law, I'm sure you know that you have some options for recovery of damages/and a few other options. You can now be a legal thorn in their side. I believe I would, considering the circumstances.
They deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope the pair get a long, long prison sentence and are made to pay all the cash back to the people they swindled. I really hate crooks like this pair. I am glad they got caught.

I seem to remember (memory is a problem for me) some shill bidding that someone on ebay had observed, maybe 2 years ago. Was it you Johhnie with the Cookeville connection? Memory problems again
, but someone did some awesome detective work.

I knew it was some sort of ville.
Close but no cigar.
Maybe they will be next. These guys from Cookeville are going to Federal Court so their local connection will be of absolutely no help!
and I think Bill said there was at least 3 years of data through the postmaster and FBI. Their goose is cooked, they are likely to get free room and board - I hope.
