Finished reading the top book last night. It was the 74th anniversary of the Hiroshima bomb on August 6th.
Starting the bottom book tonight. I have his other books, I've enjoyed reading them all. He deals in reality and tells it like it is.

New_Windsor_NY, I'd be very interested in hearing what you think of the Patrick Buchanan book when you're finished. Looks interesting!
I'm in the middle of a couple of books from the 1940s, written by WW2 war correspondent ERNIE PYLE.

Period books like this from WW2 really makes one appreciate the sacrifices of the armed forces and the home front during this time.

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?
He was called "Go Long Longly" and as I recall that came about after a comeback victory over the Washington Redskins on a Thanksgiving day. He played college ball at my Alma Mater, Abilene Christian College, now Abilene Christian University. He was not a good sport as evidenced by the sucker punch on Staubach.Steve Warden wrote:Coincidentally reading Wild Bill's chapter now.Mumbleypeg wrote:Steve, that’s a pretty rough bunch listed there. Most of them met their demise or were captured by Texas Rangers (a pretty rough bunch themselves). Not many people know that Wild Bill Longley is a direct ancestor of former Dallas Cowboy QB Clint Longley, quite a wild character himself.

After reading about the outlaws, I'd like to delve into the law men, specifically the Rangers. Any reading recommendations?
PS
Did a quick search on Clint. After a sucker punch on Staubach, it's no wonder the Cowboys let him go.

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?
I highly recommend "The Education of Little Tree" for anyone who wants to better understand life in Prohibition-era Appalachian mountains. It was written by Forrest Carter, who also wrote "The Outlaw Josie Wales".
I just finished reading Justin Cronin's novels "The Passage", "The Twelve", and "City of Mirrors" (which I guess is odd - I normally don't like Vampire stories).
It is about time for me to read "The Lord of the Rings" again.

Currently 3/4 of the way through this one. Scot Harvath is the hero's hero.

Next. I have a sneaking suspicion I may have already read this on. We'll find out once I start it.

Just finished this. Pretty good read, but Kyle Mills isn’t Vince Flynn.
Started this and am three chapters deep into it. So far it’s great! Think I’m really gonna enjoy it.

Currently going through the Outlander series again, historically true, more or less, and a good tale. A couple of Hornblower novels and a Heinlein afterwards.

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?
He is an interesting character for sure. Doc is a unique look at Doc Holliday, covering his life before his arrival in Tombstone, AZ, how he became friends with the Earp brothers, Bat Masterson, and Kate Elder (Harony). The bulk of it is set in Dodge City, KS. The book is historical fiction but well researched and exceedingly well written. Every other book I've read about Holliday centers around Tombstone and the infamous "gunfight at the OK Corral". That incident is barely even mentioned in this book.cudgee wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:05 amI thought Doc would be good, very interesting character, i reckon The Apache Wars will be good to.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2019 3:18 am Finished Doc. Currently 3/4 way through LOTR, The Fellowship Of The Ring. Then on to The Two Towers, then Return Of The King, and Finally The Silmarillion. Probably after that dig into The Unfinished Tales or The Hobbit.

Just getting into this when I can.
This Sudhalter can tell a story. I really like his writing style.
It's always fun to get back to the book.

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?
I'm into a "Reacher" novel right now (Lee Child). Read the entire "Mitch Rapp" series and Jack Noble series. I need to get back into some Dean Koontz novels. He's one of my favorites and tends to 'keep me awake' longer than I want to be. I'm also into the "Apocalyptic" genre, but the indie authors have pretty much wore it out. Same ole cookie cutter drama/sensational premise. {{yawn}}
