US. Cut. Co. Made in USA tang stamp need info

Post by Ultrastooge »

Well, I picked up this little knife because it is just so cool looking. After minimal cleaning of the tang, the writing was revealed “US. Cut. Co. Made in USA”. The only thing I could find about this company is that it was an 1892 (Possibly) consolidation/incorporation of 4 major cutlery players, including Miller Bros, NY Knife Co, Walden and Dwight Devine. Does anyone have any of their knives in the collection? I am including pictures of the find.

I am not sure what the clip you included ads up to considering these companies remained separate well past the 1892 date.

Goins lists U.S Cut Co.(curved) Made In USA as g (guesstimate)1875-1900 and adds "this marking was stamped over Keen Kutter".
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
