Ken Erickson Swaybacks
Custom knifemaker Ken Erickson, just finished up two absolutely incredible swaybacks for me. The first time I saw his jigged bone scales, I knew I had to have him make a knife for me. I have one in bone and one in stag. Ken is getting increasingly swamped with orders and if you are even thinking of one, you need to get on the list as soon as possible.

Johnnie, I got in such a hurry I hit submit before I added the pics. The steel is ats-34 and the bolster/liners are one piece milled 410. The knives closed are 3 5/8".

Joe, I'm going to keep these beauties. I was lucky when I ordered these and the wait wasn't too bad. I don't know what the wait is now for one of Kens knives, but I'm sure it's getting lengthy. Ken dyes and jigs his own bone handles and they are some of the nicest made.

Thanks Ralph, it seems that once a custom knifemaker starts making great knives they get booked for years or stop taking orders. I have several knives ordered from some other makers with waiting lists of several years. I actually plan on carrying the stag swayback and the jigged bone is going in a display case.

Sounds like a guy who would raise his own cows if he could. No wonder he's swamped with orders. I just love the curve lines of that swedge tapering off at the nail nick.Forensic Jim wrote:... Ken dyes and jigs his own bone handles ...
It's so good when a guy makes a name for himself in his own lifetime. That spring fit and finish is awesome. I'm guessing he sticks with a knife until it's absolutely perfect, no matter how long it takes.
This will be one of my favourite, fantasy threads. Thanks for those great pictures so I can appreciate the man's superb work.
