There is a ticket resale outfit out there that goes by the name of Ticketsmarter. The smartest thing about them is that they have come up with a name VERY easily mistaken for Tickermaster. They are also placed above Ticketmaster on the Google list, which helps the confusion.
I don’t shop online, so I deputized my son’s fiancée to get me a ticket for Alice Cooper, who will be here in April. The top regular ticket should go for $125 Cdn, plus tax and fees. If you buy at the venue, it comes to $140. The venue is outside of Vancouver, on a different bus line, and the box office is only open weekends if there happens to be an event. I figured the online fees would bring it to $150 or a bit more.
I gave her the money and yesterday she placed the order, or tried to.
She texted me that the tics were $159 and would be just under $200 total and she’s got one as I said I’d cover any extra. Then she texted back in a panic because they had hit her account for another $60.
What they did was charge her in US funds and then hit her for the exchange. I have the screenshots.
The ticket isn’t even on the floor, it’s row one, but in the stands. It should have been under $100cdn.
I looked at the reviews for this outfit and they are horrible. Every person on it thought they had contacted Ticketmaster. They didn’t notice the difference until too late.
There is no hope of a refund, apparently. It’s dicey whether the ticket will work or not. I have to print it myself a couple of days before the show.
So, today I spent over three hours going to the venue and buying a seat in the nosebleeds for another fifty bucks, just to make sure I get in at all. Oh, and another ten bucks for the Valley Express bus.
If the Ticketsmarter ticket works, by some miracle, I’ll use the second ticket to get my son in when he drives me out to the show. If not, I pay his gas and he can go hang out with friends who life fairly close while I go on the cheap ticket.
I’m putting this up because it seems these guys are biting people in the States as bad as they’re getting us up here.

I have used ticketmaster, stubhub & seatgeek, but I had never heard of ticketsmarter. I hate it when the tickets you buy are mailed to you right before the show. I very much prefer to print my own as soon as I buy them. Waiting weeks and never knowing if something got screwed-up drives me crazy!

The problem is that the concert is on the 18th. I won’t actually be able to print out the ticket until the day before. I won’t have any time to deal with it if there’s a problem, and judging by the reviews, there probably will be. That’s why I just bought a second ticket. Either it works or I sit in the nosebleeds and at least get to hear the show!

Have your daughter contact the fraud department of her credit card company and cancel the purchase. They have the power, means and authority to do that.

Is not a Scam but it is a legitimate platform to buy tickets. However, their systems often fail and are not able to handle large amounts of traffic so they crash very often.
