This beauty was pretty worn. I reshaped the Main into a Wharncliffe (it didn't take much!), and rehandled it in acrylic ($2.99 short pen blank from Woodcraft!)

This is the first time that I have replaced scales without taking the knife completely apart. I am building a Stiddy, and was able to glue, clamp, and later pin the scales while the knife was together.

Rough cutting the acrylic - open all shop doors for ventilation!!!!

I actually did this twice - I cracked both scales the first time, before I had built the Stiddy.

She is going into my EDC rotation.

I’ve used some pen making acrylic material before and it’s a great way to get some really nice colors into your knife handles. It’s fairly easy to work with too.

Here you go, doglegg! It ain't much, and it is still a work in progress...but it was cheap! $20 piece of track, sanded flat on top, and a tang built from a piece of angle iron. I have much more that I want to do, but it seems that I spend so much time working on tools that I can hardly work on knives!

I have a couple of small anvils and a stiddy similar to yours. The anvils have a hole for driving out pins.

I probably found the hardest way in the world to flatten the top, but it was all that I could think of:
I clamped the piece of track to a 4-ft level, and set it upside-down on a 4x36" belt sander.
I held it as level as I could and just let the weight of the metal pull it down onto the sander.
I had taken a picture if it, but I can't seem to find it.
It seemed like it took hours and hours, but probably wasn't too long.
