Treefarmer, you've got a better grasp of that rifle than me. I didn't know of those three models and all the calibers available.
There was a rifle like that in our house many years ago that was a 35 Remington. The "activating rod" was spiraled.

First stop the Ulu factory in Anchorage. Its was a fun place to be and watch them making the knives and talking to the employees. I will be putting more pic's on my Facebook page David Roberts. I already have over 200 pic's so it's going to take time to weed through them and upload them.

Great pic's of Seattle from the air dlr. My son lives up there and I've made that approach several times. Beautiful country. And Alaska, I've never been there. The Ulu factory looks interesting. Looking forward to more pic's. ::nod:: ::nod::

Nice pics! I had 7 or 8 hours to kill a few years ago in Anchorage at the tail end of a cruise, now I know how I SHOULD have spent that time haha! Enjoy yourself.

Beautiful country! Could use a little bit of that light jacket weather too!

Can't compete with those great pictures of Alaska but we do have a healthy Golden Orb spider family in the front of the house. :) For some reason she moved for a week or so up into a space between two Live Oak branches about 15' in the air, now she has rebuilt her web closer to the ground. Her web is built where a yard spot light shines through it and seem to be a plus for her catching flying bugs at night. Look at about 2 O'clock in the picture and you can see the tiny male Golden Orb spider. (Click on the picture to enlarge.)

Treefarmer, we have those here in Texas, too. I usually manage to walk through one of their webs when I am taking the trash out to the curb at night. I hope none of my neighbors are catching on their security cameras the wild impromptu dance that I do after I walk through a web.

You have shown some bravery Treefarmer, because I would have nothing to do with that spider except to remove her by whatever means possible.

Okay I said on the First Cup Diner thread I was going to a glacier today, well we did, but first on the way over we had to stop for a Moose and it's calf.

We stopped and spent some time shopping in Seward, AK a small port town on the east side of the peninsula on Prince William Sound.

Then we made it up to the "Exit Glacier" That is a part of the Harding Icefield. It is accessible if you are in good shape.

David, it looks like that smart old mom moose put out traffic cones for her baby to cross. Our deer aren't that smart. Nice pictures. My boys have been up there to some of the same places. I'd love to go there but I probably wouldn't come back. ____Dave

I'm trying to figure out how I could winter over up here. The lodge has everything you need and I won't have to go to town for months. There are 6 large SUV's the owner has here for themselves and guests, a snowmobile, snowshoes and a smokehouse to keep your meat in. The guy on the next property keeps the roads and driveways clear for everyone. There is more than enough firewood. The biggest problem is I don't think Cheryl could handle being snow bound here for very long.
