Hi, y'all!
My name is James and I go by JGHairston here. I've been swapping, knife-dropping, buying and selling knives for the better part of fifty years. I just can't seem to shake the "Wish I had that one!" I've got a little problem I'd like to air and see if any of you super knife geeks know how to solve it. It goes like this: I came by a really nice looking Case XX Stag Red Letter Set Stockman (2 dot-1978). It's a dandy, save for the little hairline crack at a pin. Problem is, some doofus has evidently tried to clean the darned thing with too much gusto! The factory sheen has been removed completely. A really helpful fellow, by the logo of "Lobo" suggested I soak the thing in mineral oil, then clean it and dry it thoroughly, after which put a coat of neutral shoe polish on it. I did all that and, to my disappointment, the handles are still dull. OK, here's your chance to really teach an old dog a new trick (or old trick)! Sock it to me! Thanks folks!
