I can barely make out the tang stamp (maybe) but it appears to be a late '70s - early '80s. What do you think of the Indian Stag handles? Some are not too crazy about 'em but they're fine by me.

Here ya' go Jerry:
the "leaning letters" of the 70's and 80's
the "leaning letters" of the 70's and 80's
Jerry, I'm not crazy about the handles. I believe there are two different "stag" lookin' Camillus handles and neither one really rings my bell. But as an everyday user they would be fine. By themselves, individually the look okay but if you put 3 or 4 of the same pattern side by side, they just look cheap.
2 Camillus Muskrats different imitation stag patterns
2 Camillus Muskrats different imitation stag patterns

I feel the same about Uncle Henrys when you line 'em up and they are all the same. and while I'm at it I've noticed the same thing with the Imitation Winterbottom handles on my beloved Queens. :(
You just can't beat the stag the good Lord put on a critter's head. ::tu::

Jerry, that knife from Doug is something special!

Willy, you've got yourself a real user in that old big #39 Queen!

Philip, the tang stamp is probably (no guarantees with Camillus) from the '80s. You consider the Indian Stag an aberration and I realize it has a lot of admirers but I'm not one and I consider Queens Winterbottom the ugliest jig going except for that crappy Pakistan jigging. Every man to his own. (down in my fighting hole waiting for the grenades to start coming in).

Floyd, that wasn't exactly a bomb. He gave that to me to replace the one I had stolen by a porch shopper. To me, a bomb is unexpected and I knew this knife was coming. You got the other part right though. He did do good didn't he.

Yesterday's acquisitions are these three knives. Two more Imperial "deer head" knives and my first wire-jack hawkbill pruner by BOKER.

Fill me in on the King Ranch connection. I'm aware of their Santa Gertrudis cattle history but what is the tie to the knife?

Sorry Tree Farmer , I was told long ago there was a large UH stockman .similar too the old timer lumberjack ..and that it was referred to as a King Ranch...I never questioned it and it stuck in my head..it may be complete folly..I have no proof of a connection of any kind..just a slow working sieve like grey matter..half memory

Wbyonder,
Look at this site, it says there is an 885 UH King Ranch. This list was compiled by an AAPK member, Darksev. Check his posts, lots of info.

I have an 885 Old Timer and it's a big ol' sucker, 4 9/16" closed. I love to find an Uncle Henry in that size.

Lot of nice knives on here the past few days. Really like that Camillus Muskrat you got Treefarmer.
The Moore Maker is nice as well. Never heard of them before.

Finally took some pics of the ones I picked up while I was home in Maryland.
2 Purina's (one is almost mint from ebay) (and the other is almost mint with a box. Thanks Lance!!! It's my favorite knife that I own.)
1 Victorinox that belonged to my Dad, 2 Imperial's, 1 Remington,
1 Purina (almost gone) that I'll try to clean up some or would donate to someone that can change the handels
and bring her back to life. The handels on it are totally trashed. Only charge would be some before and after pics on here.
Anyone interested? ::shrug::
And 1??? Tang Stamp says USA and it has some worn off writing about G.W.

You know Jerry and Philip, that just proves that we are individual beings created by God, with our own unique tastes and preferences. How do I for sure...I personally LOVE the Queen jigging! ::ds::
