Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I don't remember ever seeing that exact tang stamp before either. The Sword Brand knives I have (only a couple) have the Camillus tang stamp and Sword Brand etched on the master blade. According to Goins Camillus used a Sword Brand tang stamp in 1906 but it doesn't appear to match the one you have.

There is a very similar knife called a maize knife and listed as a #2 in the 1946 Camillus catalog but there is no association with the Sword Brand stamp.
Check the link below:

http://www.collectors-of-camillus.us/Ca ... talogs.htm

Hope this helps.....

That is Awesome guys!!! That #2 is certainly very similar to mine huh. My knife has a lanyard hole & different stamping but basically it sure does look the same. Isn't this FUN FUN & what collecting/buying/trading/selling knives is all about, It surely is for me
I will also look closer at my stamping because I didnt realize it was different than other Sword Brand stamps. Maybe we can put a side by side picture comparison & add this stamping to the known stamps that exist for Camillus, I will work on this

Mark,
I looked through my Camillus knives to see if I could find anything that would help you. I don't know that it's much help but here's what I found. I have a small folder with a "sword" stamp but it says "Silver Sword". I also have a fixed blade Trail Blazer which is a civilian version of the USMC fighting knife and has the "Sword Brand" blade etch. See the pics below:

You're welcome! That tang stamp of yours has piqued my interest. I'll be doing some research, as time permits, and if I find anything helpful beyond what's already been said I'll post it.

Like many of the previous posts, I too have never seen that Sword Brand tang stamp. It did get me curious, so I looked through my Camillus knives. These two are the only Sword Brand that are stamped (APPROXIMATELY 1941-1946). I have one that has a blade etch, but that is the more recent pattern.

Very nice Youngrik! ::tu::

I can't believe I had one of those when I was active duty back in the early 70s. I don't have a clue what became of it and now I'm looking for one in mint or excellent condition which usually carries a price tag of $100.00 or better when I had one that was free, issued by Uncle Sam. ::shrug::

Great, Thank You Sasquach!!
I know Millstom78 has a second one at nearly half that price. I can't attest to it's condition, but the one he sent me is in excellent condition.
